Most safari lodges and camps offer a complimentary laundry service (some have a small fee) weather permitting, however please note that undergarments are often excluded. You may wish to bring a small supply of liquid laundry soap (a small plastic travel bottle filled with Woolite works well for hand washing).

No, but don’t bring too many clothes because you can re-wear T-shirts and will spend a lot of time in swimsuits.

When on safari it is best to wear grey, brown or khaki coloured clothing during the months July through October, and green clothing during the months November through June so as not to alert wildlife of your presence. White & other bright colours are definitely not recommended (blue actually attracts tetse flies!). Camouflage clothing is not allowed. Bring comfortable clothes that are cool, but that can layer to keep you warm at night or on game drives.

Safari dress is comfortable and casual - layers are recommended. Keep it simple and bring things you don't mind getting dusty. After you have booked your safari, we send you a pre-departure information through emails to help you prepare for your safari.

On flying Safaris the light aircrafts used to charter guests into lodges only permit 8 kg of luggage per person. That means, one should carry only a few items of light clothing, preferably cottons, for your stay in the bush. Clothing should be in neutral colours e.g. khaki, beige, bush green. A good guideline is two of everything - socks, underwear, slacks/shorts, shirts, but ONE pullover or cardigan. A hat is essential! Bring warm clothing for the winter months as the evenings can be cool.

The majority of our t-shirts our made from 100% cotton that is NOT pre-shrunk. If the item is manufactured with pre-shrunk cotton, it will be noted in the product description. Like most clothing made from 100% cotton, the item will experience normal shrinkage when washed for the first time.

You are travelling during the dry season but there can still be occasional thunderstorms and you might catch one, some places have more than others. However mostly you are near a vehicle, the rain is not freezing, and you'll have dry clothes to change into only an hour or two away at most even if it rained at the most inconvenient time.

Clothing while on safari is casual. We recommend khaki or neutral colored, lightweight clothing. No camoflage. Bright colors and heavy fabrics are not suitable for game viewing. Early morning game drives and evenings around the campfire may be cool, so a light jacket or fleece is suggested. Bring a cap or rimmed hat to keep the sun off your face. You may want a smarter but still casual outfit that is appropriate for lodge accommodations. Clothing should be washable.

a general rule, Safarists should bring only the bare essentials: binoculars (the most important piece of equipment in our opinion -- at a minimum, we recommend 7x35s), camera, plenty of film or large memory sticks, three or four changes of casual clothes in “bush colors” (i.e., khaki, browns and greens – but no camouflage!), a wide-brimmed hat, sunblock, swimsuit, a broken-in pair of comfortable walking shoes, and a pair of flip-flops/water sandals. A warm jacket is a must.

For all sessions except U/14 we provide complete camouflage outfits at no additional cost. Most of our wardrobe are US woodlands coveralls, however there are significant quantities of auscam pants, auscam long sleeve tops, some auscam t-shirts and also army greens. There are even some exotic camouflage patterns available such as British jungle pattern. All the clothes used are professionally cleaned each time they have been worn.

We have never had a problem with a fabric when washing, however it is a good idea to hand wash very dark fabrics or belts for the first time to test for color fastness. The Velstretch belts are dyed to match the fabric case, so there is a possibility of dark colors bleeding.
