Skilled worker/independent principal applicants should take IELTS (International English Language Testing System), CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program) and/or TEF (Test d'Evaluation de Francais) if their native languages are not English or French. If you submit your application package without the test results, your application package may be sent back to you because your visa officer may not be able to determine your language proficiency.

TEF stands for "Temporary Enemy Flag". A TEF is placed on you anytime you attack a player or NPC of the opposing faction. It prevents you from entering both public and private player structures. However, you can still enter non player structures such as starports while you have a TEF. TEFs usually last a couple minutes.

If you are a mature student with sufficient English skills you should be able to prepare yourself with self-study materials, which you can borrow from the British Council library. You may also be interested in the 40-hour IELTS preparation course in our English Learning Zone. However if you would like to attend classes there are a limited number of centres which offer IELTS preparation classes.

If you want to postpone or cancel your IELTS exam, a minimum of five weeks notice must be given; otherwise the full fee is forfeited. If you are absent on the test day without prior notice, you will forfeit your full test fee. If a medical certificate is provided, then 90% of the test fee will be refunded.
