Armstrong Garage Doors steel doors can be painted with any light quality exterior latex paint. Note: when painting a door do not use paint with LRV readings less than 56. Wood doors must be painted/stained prior to installation. Most models are available primed from our factory. Armstrong Garage Doors recommends wood doors be re-painted every 1 to 2 years (more frequent refinishing may be required in high moisture areas).

Many homeowners feel that they have thrown their money away when their wooden garage doors rot or break-up because of moisture problems. Amarr guarantees its wood doors for one year, but a properly maintained wood door should provide a "reasonable" length of service to the homeowner. The following information on proper painting of wood doors comes from the American Hardboard Association.

Windsor Republic Door Models 724, 730, 735, 750, 755, 775 & 790 are prepainted and ready for years of worry-free beauty. If you wish to apply another color, please clean the surface with trisodium phosphate. Rinse the surface thoroughly and allow it to dry. All Overhead Door steel garage doors can be painted with the color of your choice by using latex paint.

All our residential steel doors are already finish painted and ready for years of maintenance-free beauty. However, if you want to apply another color, clean the surface with a powder cleanser like Comet. Rinse the surface thoroughly and allow it to dry. Use an acrylic latex exterior paint and apply it with a brush.

Students are not permitted to paint their rooms or their doors. The cost of returning resident rooms to a standard condition is increased when students personalize their rooms/doors in this way. There are many other ways to personalize your space.

It is possible to paint a steel garage door. Most come with baked-on paint which lasts a very long time, but if you don’t like the color or are trying to cover up damage, make sure you use latex paint. Oil paint will bubble and eventually peel off.

WARNING: Since Windsor Republic Doors has no control over re-coating, we do not warrant this product against peeling of the original factory applied baked enamel finish or subsequent coats of paint where re-coating has occurred.

Roll-Up doors are available unfinished for field application of paint or stain finishes or with factory applied clear lacquer or custom paint or stain finishes. If unfinished is selected extreme care must be taken to insure that the individual slats are not stuck to one another with dried paint or stain as this will adversely effect the operation of the door. Our factory finishing services are generally less expensive then field finishing.

Oftentimes, your existing flooring, paint and appliances will look good with your kitchen remodel, but sometimes they must be upgraded to look good with the renovation. By working with a qualified kitchen designer, you can determine what course of action is best for you, and your project can be developed accordingly.

Some paints have stronger odors than others. Typically oil-based paint (often used on interior trim and doors) has a distinct odor and proper ventilation is required. Latex (water-based paint used on walls) paints are usually less strong and the odor dissipates faster. We have some suggestions for minimizing the odor, but can't guarantee their success. Often the best bet is to air out the room(s) for as long as you can.

Under no circumstance, should you ever paint over mildew. Just like any other living organism, mildew continues to grow and will grow even through new paint. Before we begin painting, your home will be washed to kill any mildew on your house.

Roller Doors can be painted however due to the nature of the roller door flexing around the roller drum, potential cracking of paint may occur. It is recommended you thoroughly clean your door with water and household detergent and rinsing thoroughly with clean water before painting. The door should be clean, rust free and smooth (light sanding may be required). Apply your selected water-based acrylic paint (e.g. Dulux Weathershield Roof Semi Gloss).

Woodfold doors are typically faced in vinyl lam or hardwood veneers with a lacquer topcoat. Vinyl lam panels cannot be painted. Hardwoods, if hand sanded lightly, may be able to be painted or restained in the field. Extreme care must be taken not to get any finishing materials on the panel connectors or into the saw kerfs. Any refinishing in the field would void Woodfold's warranty.
