Yes, we have wall mount castings that allow the fence sections to connect to any flat surface. These fit over the ends of the rails and attach to the flat surface with two screws. We also have adjustable wall mounts if you need to come off the flat surface at an angle up to 45 degrees. (See photos at left.)

To attach fence panels to existing walls, columns or posts, you need to use rail end flanges (rail ends). These are screwed to the mounting surface and the rail end is inserted. If you are installing a UAB-200 pool fence, you must cut the top "ear" off the Rail End for the mid-rail as the spacing between the top rail and mid-rail (2") is too small to accommodate two full flanges.

Use wall mounts to fasten the rails of the fence to a column. Wall mounts are small aluminum castings which go over the end of a rail and have holes to attach them to a flat surface. there are two types of wall mounts. The standard ones attach straight onto the column, while our adjuatable ones will allow you to come off the column at up to a 45° angle.

For a single gate only. You will need to allow 1" extra to attach the latch keeper onto the column. (So a 48" gate needs a 49" opening.) Let our Customer Service Representative know when you are ordering a gate for this type of installation, and they will supply you with a small piece of aluminum channel to attach the keeper to the middle of the column. For large industrial gates, you will have to cut off one side of the hinge to mount it on the column.

If you have no trees or if your trees are 20’ or more apart, you can use our posts. The heavy-duty posts with inserts are recommended for use with the Heavy Perimeter Fence. We also offer U posts which can be used with the standard fencing. The method of attaching is to use the black lock ties (at least 5 per post) to affix the fence to the posts.

To fasten posts to a concrete slab, we always recommend that you core drill the concrete. If this is not feasible, then you may be able to use our deck mounts. These two-piece aluminum castings fit inside the bottom of a post and secure to the post though the expansion of the two pieces by tightening a bolt. Since deck mounts fit inside posts, fence styles with bottom rails may not work properly since the rails will be in the way.

The recommended procedure for restoring a wrought iron fence with this problem is to either sand blast or wire brush the fence to remove the rust. Once the rust is removed, you should apply a zinc enriched primer, cover it with one or two coats of finish preferably with a rust inhibitor. Just like your car, you can enhance the life span of an iron fence by simply cleaning and polishing the fence with a good automotive wax. BACK TO TOP

Yes. As we have already mentioned on this page, historic brick was fired at a lower temperature and is typically softer than modern brick. Construction techniques have changed, but it's still important that the mortar accomodate the historic brick. Due to the prevalence of portland cement mortars (notably the standard Type N), very few masons have worked with traditional lime mortars.

If brick is added to a home a brick ledge must be added to the foundation to support the brick and wider overhangs may be required on the roof. If brick is deleted, the ledges on the foundation plan will not be required. Most changes to the exterior finish can be made easily without causing problems.

With peel and stick neoprene automotive-type adhesive tape, or if you wish we will affix a magnetic strip at no extra charge. However, we cannot guarantee how well the magnetic strip will adhere in your application. From personal experience it won't survive an automatic car wash.

You may construct a solid or closed-vision fence up to 6-feet in height from the front setback of your house to the rear property line. You may construct a 3-foot solid or 4-foot open vision fence from the front of your house to the front of your property line. If your house is next to a public pathway, private path, or open space area in the subdivision, you are likely to have height restrictions placed on your fence adjacent in these areas.

We will need to know the following information: How far out from your house is the eave? Are your overhangs supported with 2 x 4 or 2 x 6's rafters? How far apart are the 2 x? rafters? Your awning includes the required "flashing" to enable you to provide a seal at either mounting location. If at all possible, it is better to mount to the wall for larger or heavier Live Loads. Please consult with us as to your best type of installation (eave/wall?).

No. Attaching the deck to your house is not recommended. Your floating deck will be raising and lowering uniformly during seasonal changes. This will exert tremendous force on both your deck and your home's exterior, eventually causing damage to both. Even in the South, were frost does not occur, there is still movement. Attaching a floating does not conform to any building code.

No. You will need to have the brick foundation (or any portions that are brick) replaced before the remainder of the retrofitting can be done. Earthquake Safety, Inc. does not replace or repair foundations. However, if you call our office, we refer you to one of several firms who will be able to provide the necessary foundation replacement.

Yes. If brick is being added to a house, you will have to make modifications to the foundation to create a brick ledge. If brick is being removed, the ledges on the foundation plan will not be required. Most exterior finishing changes can be made easily without causing problems. You may want to check with a building professional to discuss the changes you want to make.

In the past many timber frame houses did not have insulation put into the internal panels which gave people the impression that this form of construction was noisy. Taylor Lane supply semi-rigid batt insulation to all panels for the client to fit between the studs. Tests have shown that a 90mm internal panel has the same sound reduction qualities as a single block internal wall.
