In general, modern engine management systems will compensate for fuel octane, and once you have satisfied the optimum octane requirement, you are at the optimum overall performance area of the engine map. Tuning changes to obtain more power will probably adversely affect both fuel economy and emissions. Unless you have access to good diagnostic equipment that can ensure regulatory limits are complied with, it is likely that adjustments may be regarded as illegal tampering by local authorities.

There are a lot of misconceptions about fuel octane. Octane rating indicates one thing: resistance to detonation. Higher octane fuel does NOT run "cooler", and vice versa, provided the fuel has a high enough octane to prevent detonation ("pinging"), which is when the fuel ignites before the spark plug fires (this can and will cause an engine to run inefficiently and thus hot, but is extremely hard on the engine in other ways). This should not be an issue in a properly tuned paramotor engine.

Some manufacturers recommend high octane fuel, whereas other vehicles can run on either. The Fuel Energizer works with all fuel types, but if you want to use a lower octane fuel to save even more money, we suggest you complete the "Settling In" period and ensure you have followed the "Golden Seven Steps Rule" before you start using lower octane fuel.

If you use a fuel with an octane rating below the requirement of the engine, the management system may move the engine settings into an area of less efficient combustion, resulting in reduced power and reduced fuel economy. You will be losing both money and driveability. If you use a fuel with an octane rating higher than what the engine can use, you are just wasting money by paying for octane that you can not utilize.

The easy answer is the highest octane you can get in your particular area. If the vehicle is custom tuned on the dyno, then whatever fuel was in the tank should be the minimum quality you will use. Example: If the vehicle was tuned on 95ron fuel then it is no problem to use 98ron fuel but it is not recommended that you use 91ron.

Are you tempted to buy a high octane gasoline for your car because you want to improve its performance? If so, Take note that if the recommended gasoline for your car is 91octane, then using a higher gasoline offers absolutely no benefit. It won't make your car perform better, go faster, get better mileage or run cleaner. Your best bet: Listen to your owner's manual.

The answer to this question varies. If you plan to inject a moderate amount of Nitrous (15-45 HP) we recommend that you continue to use the same fuel that you currently use. For any shot higher than 45 HP, we strongly recommend that you upgrade to a higher octane fuel (98+).

Since you're adding displacement (~15%) to the engine, there's no such thing as a free lunch. You need more fuel to feed a bigger fire. That said, a stroker can match a 4.0L engine's fuel consumption during highway cruising but you can expect your mpg to drop 2-3% in mixed driving conditions. That's only a small price to pay considering the extra performance on hand.

You should not allow the tank to become empty, and then add 50% of lower octane, followed by 50% of higher octane. The fuels may not completely mix immediately, especially if there is a density difference. You may get a slug of low octane that causes severe knock. You should refill when your tank is half full. In general the octane response will be linear for most hydrocarbon and oxygenated fuels e.g. 50:50 of 91 and 95 will give 93.

All our engines will run on good quality pump gas. This engines compression is below 10 to 1 so it can run very comfortably within 91 to 93 octane range.

The possibility then to get more power out of a "premium" gas is very low. The higher price is not worth it. Fuel consumption is determined by a number of factors: low-pressured tires, wind factor, outside temperature, remote starters, and most of all wild accelerations! Also a lot of people believe that gassing up with "premium" will give them more mileage per fuelling: "Gasoline with higher heating values give better fuel economy than those with lower heating values.

Oil must be pre-mixed with the fuel. We recommend CastrolTM TTS two-stroke oil (available worldwide). The engine's Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is programmed for Europe and North America to accommodate slightly different octane ratings. We recommend using the highest octane alcohol-free unleaded auto-fuel that is available. This is generally 98 RON (Research Octane Number) in Europe and 93 PON (Pump Octane Number) in North America (except California which is 92).

Modern engine oils and fuels are carefully formulated to offer the best possible performance over a wide range of operating condition. There are occasions where an additive not contained in the oil or fuel will improve performance in one respect or another. However, there are also additives that will cause harm to the system. If aftermarket additives are used they should be thoroughly tested and offer more proof of performance than simple testimonial letters or anecdotal evidence.

Given the fact that literally thousands of fuel additives are offered on the market, engine manufacturers have no way of monitoring or testing the claims of so many products - making it difficult to determine specific products that are safe to use. However, PRI chemistry does not alter any fuel specifications issued by engine manufacturers - specifications by which manufacturers judge whether or not a particular fuel affects safe engine operation.
