It is easy to mixup the BSD libcurses and the SVR4 libcurses. One lives in /usr/ucblib, the other in /usr/ccs/lib, when you've installed SUNWarc. _depends_on is used by the kernel to determine that this driver requires another module to be loaded into memory. The 3.x SunPro C compiler determines that since the driver does not reference _depends_on, and it is static, it is not needed in the executable.
