The foot length should be kept as short as possible. For a firm load (such as a box) it does not need to be as deep, for a softer load (a sack) the foot must fully support the load.

The first step is to determine how much lumber you’ll dry in a year. Then figure your average drying time for each of the species you’ll be drying, and you can calculate the size kiln you need from there. For example: you need to dry 500,000 board feet of oak per year. Fresh off the saw, oak takes about 28-30 days to dry, so you’ll be able to do 12 loads in a year. Each load will need to be 42,000 board feet to give you the 500,000 board feet you need for the year.

WE are a large Healthcare organization in North Carolina. We acquired a 300 unit (apartment) Retirement Community in the alst few years. I am 22 yrs old, I live in Missouri, more closely the bootheel in the town of Dexter. I am seriously looking to start the trade of blacksmithing, Mainly armor and weaponry. I am an avid read so when this idea came to me a 3 years ago I got a hold of every book and studied them. Sadly although I learned much, I find I learn more by hands on teaching.
