Although an applicant’s performance on the GRE is an important criterion for admission, we do not have minimum scores below which we will not admit. We normally tell students they should be in the B+ range to be competitive. The admission process incorporates 1) overall GPA; 2) prerequisite GPA; and 3) GRE score. Each of these areas is weighted equally. Thereby, the applicant could remain in the competitive range if they were low in one area i.e. overall GPA and up in the other two. Historically, applicants with GRE scores below 900 are not competitive.

There are no fixed standards for acceptable scores, and the GRE scores are just one of many factors in the admissions decision, but most successful applicants have verbal and mathematics GRE scores of 550 or higher.

The admissions committee looks at all aspects of your application when determining your admissions status. This includes your undergraduate GPA, your GRE score, your letters of recommendation, your essay, your professional experience and your other accomplishments.

The Prerequisites needed include Principles of Biology(an introductory course), Computer Programming(at least one semester equivalent to Georgia Tech's CS 1301), Organic Chemistry(an introductory course), Calculus(one year, equivelent to MATH 1501, 1502), and Physics(one year.) GPAs have ranged betwe en 3.4 - 4.0 for this program but no minimium has been established. The general GRE should be taken with scores at least 1800(Fall '99.)

The average M.A. student had a GPA of 3.6 and a GRE score of 1250. The average Ph.D. student had a GPA of 3.8 and a GRE score of 1270.

If you are an international student (and your medium of instruction for your undergraduate studies was NOT in English), you need a minimum TOEFL score of 550 paper based, 213 computer based, or 80 Internet based. This is a University Graduate Studies and Research requirement. Students that submit TOEFL scores lower than the minimum will be denied admission.

First we look at the applications on their individual merit. We look at all of the materials and try to arrive at an accurate portrait of the applicant that includes experience, the breadth of previous coursework and recommendations. We do see scores and GPAs in all ranges. In general, however, competitive GRE scores will be in the 600s for the verbal section, in the 600s for the quantitative section, and 5 or above (on a 6-point scale) for the writing section. Competitive GPAs will be 3.

Yes, the Graduate School requires a graduate exam score on file for all students in a degree program, without exception.

The average GRE scores for entering students is 600 to 675 on all three scales - the quantitative, verbal, and analytical sections. Yes. Applications without GRE scores are considered incomplete. Applicants must time their taking of the GRE so that the scores are in their application materials by March 1 or the specified due date.

Each program has its specific admission requirements. There is not a set minimum score needed for admission. The score on the admission test is just one of several factors considered for admission. Some programs allow conditional admission. For these programs, the graduate advisor may allow a student to take classes for one semester without taking the required admission exam. It is at the discretion of the graduate advisor and academic dean to offer a student conditional admission status.

Answer: The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board requires all graduate applicants at Texas public universities to submit official GRE scores. However the GCSW does not require the scores for admission to the M.S.W. program. You may apply to the GCSW without scores, but must submit them prior to enrollment in the program. There is no minimum GRE score requirement.

The Davidson School reviews applications in a holistic manner. No one element of your application will disqualify you from admissions. We are looking for students who are passionate about Jewish education and are able to handle the rigorous course work offered at JTS. The Davidson School does not require interviews for MA applicants but does require interviews for EdD students. Occasionally the dean will request an interview with an MA applicant.

We highly recommend that all new students take the free ACCUPLACER test prior to enrolling. ACCUPLACER is required for placement into English and math classes, which you will want to take during the first semester. Math and English build the basic foundation for all other college classes. If you have recent ACT or SAT scores, or grades from prerequisite classes, those can be used instead. New students may be interested in placement and advisement as part of the QUEST program.

If your undergraduate grade point average is 3.0 to 3.2, the verbal and quantitative scores together should total 1100; for grade points above 3.2, scores of 1000 may be acceptable.
