The UriScan urine test strips are sensitive to humidity and prolonged exposure to light. The vial should be stored in a cool (not exceeding 86F), dry, dark location. Do not store the UriScan strips in the refrigerator. All unused strips must be stored in the original container. We scan glass mounts, but ask that you arrange the slides in the proper orientation (front/back), because orientation can be difficult to determine by looking at a glass-mounted slide. While glass or plastic mounts protect the slide from scratches, they don't seal out dust and dirt. When the test strip membrane is manufactured, the material is run through a chemical bath. Absorption of the chemical is not completely uniform. Each membrane group is tested and coded according to the exact level of chemicals it contains. Coding the meter to match the test strip is necessary to obtain accurate test results. A blood test is more accurate, but it depends on the type you get. Many doctors will order a simple qualitative hCG. It only gives a yes or no answer, but doesn't register your HCG levels. If you are early in your pregnancy, and your levels are low, you may get a false negative. A quantitative blood test will measure the exact amount of hCG present. Yes they will let you know with *PRACTICE* contractions and their laying down - or active times. This is normally a 1 -4 hour time period 2 times a day. The same times AM and PM.
