If your hearing loss seemed sudden, then your best bet would be to have your doctor look to see if you have an ear infection or wax impacted in your ear canals, or another medical condition. If your family member is in a nursing home, it is best to have the nurse's check for wax impaction, before calling for a hearing test. We cannot do a test if the ears are impacted.
