How do I find out which voltage regulator chip I have and what voltages it can provide?
The ultimate processor upgrade guide for all Asus P2B and P3...You need to look at the board. Near the Slot1 connector there is a chip with around 30 pins or so. Some of these chips can provide 1.3V-3.5V, while others can only provide 1.8V-3.5V. Attention, dual-cpu boards have two voltage regulator chips, and it is possible that one is of the new type and the other not! This list is not complete. Asus has used quite a lot of different voltage regulator chips on its boards, so it's possible there are even more that Asus used I'm not aware of.
K) What is a voltage regulator?
PV FAQ - PhotoVoltaic Frequently Questioned AnswersA voltage regulator, aka a charge controller, is a device in a photovoltaic system which prevents over charging (aka 'cooking') batteries. Depending upon the sophistication of the unit, it may also prevent over-discharge of the batteries and reverse charging of the cells. See similar questions...
What is the difference between and voltage converter and a voltage regulator?
DC Converter,DC to DC Converter,AC DC Converters,Current to ...A voltage regulator functions as a voltage converter as well as a voltage stabilizer. A voltage stabilizer will stabilize the electricity to a fixed current. VC model transformers come with a European-to-American plug adapter. You can find additional types of plug adapters on our site. See similar questions...
My mechanic says I have a bad voltage regulator, and he has to replace my alternator. How come?
SSRSOUNY - Consumer Section - Frequently Asked QuestionsThe voltage regulator controls or regulates the alternator's output. Think of it as the brains of the charging system. It senses how much voltage is needed by your vehicle, then modifies the field current within the alternator so it puts out just the right amount of current. Too little current can allow the battery to run down while too much can damage it and other electrical and electronic components. See similar questions...

Can I reverse the Vcc voltages supplied to VccA and VccB of the voltage shifter PI74AVC164245?
Pericom - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - By Product Fam...No, the Vcc voltage supplied to VccA and VccB of PI74AVC164245 can not be reversed, please comply with the Vcc requirement specified in datasheet. Compared to a passive switch voltage translator, a logic voltage level shifter can drive longer trace with higher capacitive load at higher frequency, due to its active driving output. It is also capable of translating a voltage level from both high to low, and low to high. See similar questions...

If I use a 5 cell NiMH pack do I need to use a voltage regulator?
NoBS Batteries FAQIn far and away the majority of R/C Rx applications a 6v NiMH pack provides the same faster servo speed and increased servo output power a 6v Nicad would without any of the twitches or jitters long associated with Nicad 6v systems. Nicads display a relatively high ‘surface voltage spike’ fresh off of a peak charge, and that’s what’s producing those un-nerving servo jitters. See similar questions...
Question: How much 5-V current can the MC33794's on-chip regulator deliver?
E-Field Sensor ContestAnswer: The 5-V regulator's capability is limited by the maximum sustained power dissipation of the package. Soldering the MC33794 exposed backside pad to copper cladding on the mounting side of a PCB for heatsinking purposes allows the maximum available current to be drawn-limited by the temperature rise. Do not exceed the part's thermal rating. See similar questions...
Why is the high voltage called B+? What are A, B and C voltages?
AGA - The General FAQThese letters once refered to battery classes for circuits. (You'll notice that tube texts generally show batteries as power sources for the various DC voltages - they meant it!) A batteries were for the heaters (filaments). B batteries were for plates and other (relatively) high voltage supplies such as screen grids. C batteries were for control grid bias supplies. The B voltage is positive (B+). The C voltage is generally negative (C-). See similar questions...
QUESTION: I am installing a Ford alternator and external voltage regulator. How do I wire them?
CJ2A-FAQAll of the above wires carry relatively little current. A #14 wire (check the package at the parts store) will be plenty heavy for these wires. Ground - There should be a #14 wire from this connection to one of the mounting screws on the base of the voltage regulator. You will need to make the following connections in addition to the above.
