DiffusiMAX is Pluronic Lecithin Organogel or PLO gel. It is an organic base that is used as a vehicle for the absorption of medications through the skin. DiffusiMAX kits and DiffusiMAX premixed gel do not contain active ingredients; medications are added by a pharmacist. The medications most commonly used in DiffusiMAX are the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Medications can be mixed with solvents prior to incorporating into DiffusiMAX. The solvent may enhance drug release of the medication presumably by reducing the viscosity of the PLO gel. Use of the solvent may also allow for easier incorporation of the medication into DiffusiMAX.
