Your new baler will not be shipped with hydraulic fluid in the tank. Your Pre-Start Up Manual will provide the correct number of gallons of hydraulic fluid and a list of suggested fluid manufacturers. The hydraulic fluid needs to be located at the installation site upon the arrival of the equipment so that the installation contractor or dealer’s installer can add the fluid into the tank prior to start-up.

The hydraulic fluid you can use is any hydraulic fluid that is kept on the shelf of major automotive stores. The fluid we use is Citgo brand AW32 hydraulic oil also used in farming and agricultural applications, or any tractor hydraulic fluid will work.

You should use only Tempest “Rosco” smoke fluid in Tempest “Rosco” Smoke Machines. Tempest offers a “generic” smoke fluid that is safe to use in other brands of machines including the Martin machines.

Dirt in any system (air, electric, or hydraulic) will cause wear. Air tools suffer most from dirt because the compressor is sucking in dirt all the time and tool exhaust ports allow dirt to get into the tool. Since the hydraulic system is a sealed system, dirt gets in only by carelessness. And, to protect against this, the hydraulic system has a full-flow filter.

The performance of the entire aircraft hydraulic system can be affected by the condition of the hydraulic fluid. If the hydraulic fluid additives are damaged or depleted, the hydraulic fluid may no longer perform adequately in the system. Use only DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid. The use of any other type of fluid will damage your brake, and could cause your brake to fail. We recommend using DOT 4 brake fluid because it has a higher boiling point than the DOT 3 brake fluid.
