Our ATV License Plate Kit does not make your ATV street legal. Some states do allow ATV's to be used on the road when outfitted with the proper equipment. However, the ATV License Plate Kit is for displaying your off- road registration decal and/or assigned numbers on the back of your ATV.

In most areas of National Forests in the Rocky Mountain Region, you need to stay on roads and trails that are designated as OPEN to motorized travel. In many areas, you may not take your ATV behind a closed gate, or travel OFF the road or trail (cross-country), unless the area is specifically designated for that use. Motorized vehicles are not allowed in any Wilderness Areas.

The Colorado Trail Foundation supports a non-motorized trail. The Trail is suitable for hikers, equestrians, mountain bikers (with the exception of wilderness areas), and pack animals. A few sections of the CT are still shared with motorized users.

You do not need a driver license to drive an ATV, but restrictions apply to ATV drivers under the age of 16: without adult supervision on property where ATV use is permitted and the child completed an ATV safety-training course approved by the DMV. (Carry your course certificate with you when you drive.) You can operate an ATV on public lands where signs indicate that ATV use is allowed. Only operate an ATV on private property if you have permission from the property owner.

There are over 45 miles of designated ATV trails throughout the forest. Parking is available at each trailhead. WMA check-in stations contain hunting brochures with a district map on the back or you can pick one up at the district office. A permit can be purchased at any self-service fee station or at the district office in Rolling Fork. Annual permits are only sold at the district office.

You may NOT ride an ATV, off-road vehicle, motorcycle, or other motorized vehicle anywhere on Corps of Engineers property that encompasses Lake Cumberland. The licensing requirements are dictated by the state or country your drivers license is from. If your local laws do not require a motorcycle license then you are not required to have one to rent a bike.

Yes. This course is for riders that already have a current, class "M" (motorcycle) drivers license. TCARC does not teach beginning riders how to operate or ride a motorcycle. This course is not associated in any way with any State or Federal agency, or the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, and does not prepare students for taking any driving tests for the purposes of obtaining a motorcycle license.
