With some modification of the slats the tiles can be dropped and will look just fine. All of the tiles are produced in Europe to their standards. That is why they only come in these dimensions. The ceiling material is man-mixed and thus you could miss the detection of asbestos in "this spot" when it might be one inch over in "that spot".
