There will not be a separate surcharge on your bill. The costs of the solar program will be included in the distribution component of your utility bill. All utility customers will pay for the program except for low-income customers who qualify for California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) and/or Family Energy Rate Assistance (FERA).

Yes, we encourage anyone who uses electricity to sign up, even if you do not have utility service in your name. So even if you live in a dorm, a hospital room or a jail cell, you can still sign up.

Pay Phone Surcharges are mandated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and are designed to compensate pay phone operators for free phone calls made from their pay phones. VIP passes this charge on to our customers, only when your call originates from a phone identified to us as a pay phone and the call is answered at the destination end.

The normal solar electric system must stop producing power when the electric grid is down for safety reasons. When grid power starts up again, the inverter will continue to provide power automatically. Battery backup inverters allow you to continue producing and using electricity from you solar array during a power outage.
