What is the performance of ceramic tiles exposed to frost ?

Tiles in Northern Ireland - info on tiles and marble, adhesi...
Frost damage affects the materials exposed to water in areas where the temperature is liable to fall below zero. Water can penetrate tiles - and therefore a tiled surface - through their pores. If the temperature falls below zero, the water freezes and becomes ice. As every schoolchild knows, ice occupies a greater volume than liquid water, so tensions are created inside the pores. These tensions may become so high that portions of the tiles break off. See similar questions...

Why choose natural stone over ceramic tiles?

Stone Flooring Tips: FAQ
It really is a personal choice. Both natural stone and ceramic tiles have their benefits, limitations and appeal. We love real stone for its long life, its warmth, the fact that it is natural and doesn’t contain any chemicals and for its timeless beauty (it can be rejuvenated to increase its luster, unlike a ceramic tile). However, it is not usual to recommend using wall tiles in floor applications. See similar questions...

What is the difference between ceramic coated and non ceramic coated exhaust products?

Bill's Isuzuperformance; Frequently Asked Questions
Ceramic coating offers both thermal insulation to keep the heat of the exhaust inside the pipe and also corrosion resistance. Keeping the heat inside the pipe reduces under hood temepratures and keeps exhaust gas velocity high, both of which enhance the engine's ability to produce more power. Corrosion resistance protects the product from rust and makes it last longer. For headers and down pipes, we recommend the ceramic coating to protect your valuable investment and protect it from corrosion. See similar questions...

What's the difference between ceramic and stainless steel headers?

w w w . v a n c o u v e r c i v i c s . c o m
Ceramic is generally thought to contain heat better than regular steel, thus keeping the hot gases moving through the exhaust system faster. However, a chip or abuse of the header may result in chips in the protective coating, exposing the steel underneath to water and corrosion which may lead to rust. The steel underneath the ceramic coating is generally mild grade steel. Although this is great in California, it's not that great up North. See similar questions...
