Where is support available for the TWAIN acquire module or Snapshot Photo Scanner?

KODAK:FAQ: KODAK Snapshot Photo Scanner 1
Application programs and device drivers can start up at boot-up and run in the background without the computer user's knowledge. Some of these programs or device drivers running in the background can interfere with the installation of software and should be closed down before software installation begins. What to do if my scanner is not supported by Mac OS X? Does it support TWAIN?

FAQs
If your scanner does not come with an Image Capture compliant scanner drive, you could have a look at TWAIN-SANE. It creates a bridge between TWAIN and the Mac OS X image capture system, and it comes with hundreds of scanner drivers based on SANE, Linux' scanner driver framework. So there is a good chance that there's a driver for your scanner, too.

Does GIMP have scanner support?

GIMP - Documentation
Yes. You can run xscanimage, the front end to SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy), either as a GIMP extension or in stand-alone mode. This supports Mustek and HP flatbed scanners, as well as the Connectix color QuickCam camera.

What is the difference between "ISIS" and "TWAIN" scanner protocols and why doesn't CFC use "TWAIN"?

Solomon Institute Corporation - FAQ
Several years ago Pixtran developed software drivers for most all of the high-speed scanners and named them "ISIS". Inexpensive low volume, low speed scanners connecting to PC's via serial/parallel and now USB ports developed "TWAIN" as drivers for these scanners. There are several versions of TWAIN drivers and they are all different. When an industry standard is available Solomon will offer it as well.

Can I scan using the Twain interface of my scanner?

eDoc - Document Management Software

Question: Is it possible from a TWAIN application to know if a scanner is a flatbed scanner or not?

TWAIN-- Standard for image acquisition devices.
Answer: Yes, it is. If CAP_FEEDERENABLED is not supported or it is but it cannot be set to true then it is safe to assume the scanner is a flatbed-only device (at least, this is the functionality that can be accessed from its TWAIN Data Source). If CAP_FEEDERENABLED is supported and can be set to true then the scanner is equipped with a feeder. If CAP_AUTOFEED is supported and can be set to true then the feeder is an automatic document feeder (ADF).

Question: How can a TWAIN Application know whether a Data Source is a Scanner or a Digital Camera?

TWAIN-- Standard for image acquisition devices.
Answer: Currently TWAIN does not define a standard method to get from a TWAIN Data Source the type/class of the image acquisition device it drives.
