Change the output preferences to Wave File (silent). In the newer versions of WinAMP, the output preferences is actually under the "Input" tab. Click Options|Preferences|Input Tab, select one of Nullsoft's Plug-In decoders, click on "Configure", then the "Output" tab, and change the output Device to ".WAV File (Silent)" (this specific info refers to version 1.92)

Press Ctl-P to get Preferences, then select Output in the left hand window, then select Nullsoft Disk Writer plug-in in the left window... then press the Configure button to choose which directory you want your WAV files saving in. After you do this, every time you "play" a file in Winamp, it will actually be output to a WAV file in your chosen directory.

If you have the 'full' version of Winamp it can play WMA files, and you can try writing to a WAV output file using the Nullsoft Disk Writer plugin... but sometimes it won't work - you get a message saying "Sorry, no .wav writing support for DRM enabled WRM streams". This figures, I guess. Winamp is basically playing by the rules set by Microsoft et al. There's no technical reason for not doing this... it's a "policy" thing.

To do this, open Windows Explorer and locate the Sculptor brain wave file folder. By default, these files should be located in the following folder: From Windows Explorer, double click on any of these files and you should hear a short 2 second sound file play. If you can’t hear this file, you will need to check you Windows audio equipment. Tip: An alternative to using the Sculptor 3 “Brain Wave” player, is to user a product distributed by BWGen.

MD5 checksums files are not exclusive to SHN files. An MD5 checksum can be used to ensure the accuracy of any data file (e.g. .doc, .mp3, .mpeg). Some seeders produce MD5 checksums for their WAV files, as well as for their SHN files. This is just an extra level of confirm to ensure exact copies of the original WAV files are being burned from the SHN files. Checking a WAV file with a MD5 cheksum is no different than checking a SHN file.

MetaSynth currently looks at the file 'type' rather than the file extension. AIFF files that originate on the Mac usually have the file type set correctly but files created on PCs usually don't. If you have a file type utility (such as File Typer or File Buddy), check to make sure that the file type is AIFF. If there is enough interest expressed to us, we will create a 'droplet' application that will set the type correctly.

Open the Preferences window, then select Plug-ins/Output. Select "Nullsoft Disk Writer" as your output plug-in. Then click 'Configure' and select a directory for WAV file output. The next time you hit the play button, Winamp will start writing a file with the same name as the file you're playing, but with the .WAV extension, in the directory you specified. You could Mark the thirty second drum recording (clip) and copy it six times to the desired track location.

Before CDex 1.10 you can only encode WAV files, but not the other way around. There are several tools available which can do this job. Take a look at www.mp3.com and look for utilities like WinAmp or MaPlay.

I have no plans on writing a Winamp3 compatible version in the near future, but if enough people request it, I will consider making a new version. The reason for this is that Winamp's architecture has changed dramatically from version 2 to version 3, and writing a version of WinCue compatible with Winamp3 requires a lot of work.

I have all the codecs installed properly, and the files play fine with WMP, but I really do not care for that media player. I generally route all my media through WinAmp and if there is any way possible to play these files in WinAmp, and anyone knows how, you would totally rule if you could help me out!

You will need to use Zinf 2.1 to do this. In 2.1 you can select the WaveoutPMO output plugin in the plugins panel of the options dialog. Whenever you play an MP3 file with the WaveoutPMO, the decoded wav file will get written to your MyMusic directory.

Tracks can be created by using a wav editor. When creating tracks, one must make sure that the tracks are cut on correct sector boundries (multiples of 588 samples). CDWav cuts on correct sector boundries by default and therefore is the preferred program to use for tracking shows. CDWav is also the easiest application available for tracking shows. Cool Edit and Sound Forge DO NOT cut on correct sector boundries by default.
