We still enjoy working with the Carbureted setups, they also have a more traditional look to them as well. Easy to tune and less complex. Fuel injection is not necessarily any more complicated than a carburetor. It may seem more complicated to a novice fuel injection enthusiast, but in reality, carburetors can be more complex. A typical Holley carburetor has over 120 possible adjustments. A stock TPI intake has only three items which can be adjusted, both of which are on the throttle body (throttle position sensor, idle air control valve, and minimum air screw).

Besides throttle bodies, linkage and manifold (if required) typical components are; A management system , wiring loom, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel injectors, appropriate plumbing, air horns and a ducting/filtration system for the incoming air.

You're right in believing that fuel injection is complicated. Factory engineers and technicians spent thousands of hours "mapping" your car's engine computer (ECU). Your ECU includes numerous fuel maps to deal with a wide variety of load and environmental situations. The signals sent to your fuel injectors are the result of all this knowledge. Rather than pretend we can create a better map, we let your ECU calculate the load, and temperature, and price of coffee at Starbucks.

If your vehicle is equipped with factory fuel injection stay with it. We offer several upgrades to make it perform better. We currently do not recommend after market fuel injection systems. They are over complicated, over rated, over priced and prone to failure. NASCAR and NHRA still run carbs. Our experience and a number of independent racers will tell you that their is no real gain in power. The injection system is usually better on emissions and thats why big government secretly pushes it.

There is no comparison. The WhiTek ECS will run any Harley engine, Sportster to EVO, stock to stroker, normally aspirated or supercharged. It will work with any cam, displacement, or compression ratio. It includes a control/display unit that is used to adjust it while riding. It is easy to install, and results in a neat, clean installation, since all of the components are contained in one unit.

Edelbrock and Accel have multi-port fuel injection (MPFI) systems, however the Accel must be tuned with a laptop PC. These are quite expensive though. Force Fuel Engineering in Florida can handle a conversion if you send them your manifold. They recommend an open plenum manifold, but they can do 180 degree manifolds, too.

Alcohol is very corrosive and, unless you are prepared to constantly maintain your fuel system, we do not recommend it. Larger injectors and fuel pump are required due to the additional flow required.

The Motronic system automatically compensates for changes in engine tune. If you add a pipe like the CC products slip-on, you do NOT need a new chip. The Motronic uses the signal from the oxygen sensor to recalibrate itself. Unlike the Jetronic system on earlier K-bikes, the Motronic system automatically compensates for changes in altitude (this is true whether you have an oxygen sensor or not).
