We measure the size in bytes of the files you upload and download. We add your uploads and downloads together to calculate the amount of transfer you have done in your billing period. If you reach the limit of your account, you cannot upload or download files until the start of your next billing cycle. You can if you wish upgrade to the next plan, which will reset your measured bandwidth usage and give you an extra allowance.

If you run out of space on your account, then parts of your website may continue to work. Note that you will not be able to send or receive email through your account and other functions that require space will no longer work. Bandwidth is allocated on a calendar month basis. Many routers (and other equipment) are equipped with counters. With a special network protocol you can read such a counter, wait for five minutes, and then read the counter again. In normal circumstances the counter will increase by a certain amount. Network bandwidth is usually measured per second.
