I don't want BitTorrent stealing my bandwidth! How can I stop it from uploading?

BitTorrent/FAQ - Anarchopedia
You could hack the source to not upload, but then your download rate would suck. BitTorrent downloaders engage in tit-for-tat with their peers, so leeches have very little success downloading. BitTorrent pre-allocates the entire file when your download begins, then writes in pieces in random order as it gets them. As a result the file jumps to its full size immediately. BitTorrent will tell you when the download is complete.

You can't. You could hack BitTorrent, but remember that how much you upload affects your download speed. So if you don't upload your download speeds will suffer and you will also destroy the BitTorrent community. Remember: if nobody uploads, nobody can download. See similar questions...

Why not BitTorrent?

Internet Archive Frequently Asked Questions
BitTorrent is good and similar to FreeCache in that it balances download "horizontically". BitTorrent uses other BitTorrent clients for this balancing; these clients often become un-available after a particular file is not popular anymore. The FreeCache system utilizes permanent FreeCaches that don't go away (although particular files get flushed out after a while). Unlike BitTorrent, the FreeCache system is transparent to the end-user. See similar questions...

Such a device, when mounted correctly, can be aimed at your mailbox and capture images of whoever stops at the mail box. The other is an infrared flash that does not give off the characteristic flash of light, but if the camera is within 15 feet of the mailbox, should work OK. See similar questions...

Why don't you use bittorrent?

Sacred-texts.com: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
For the uninitiated, bittorrent is a program which distributes large files in a peer-to-peer network; clients can then access the files from the p2p network as if downloading them from a virtualized host. This distributes bandwidth costs over the entire p2p network instead of having one centralized server incurr those costs. Several readers have suggested that I distribute sacred-texts partially or exclusively over bittorrent to avoid paying the costs of bandwidth. See similar questions...
