If possible, get a different ISP, preferably a national provider with good customer support. Many local ISP's do not have good equipment and will continue to drop your connection. If another ISP is not available, contact an Instructional Technology Consultant (ITC) about obtaining a program that will run in the background and repeatedly "ping" your ISP while you are online to try to prevent it from disconnecting.

Most wireless modems/routers will lose the internet connection if a cordless phone, operating on the 2.4GHz band, is used nearby due to radio signal interference. This issue is still unresolved, but my guess is that it's due to buggy firmware in the xDSL/cable modem or router. Reports on the mailing list seem to indicate that transfers complete without issue if the download rates are low. Zinc has a feature called idle-exit. When Zinc is left running without any activity, it will by default disconnect in one hour.
