Can we buff chrome?

Frequently Asked Questions - Alloy Polishing Co.
Usually not, chrome plating is just that, plated on the surface, very quickly, the chrome would be buffed through and the underlying nickel and copper would be exposed.

Do we chrome plate?

Frequently Asked Questions - Alloy Polishing Co.
Not in house, however, if you have polishing and plating, we would be more than happy to send the plating out for you. We can also prep for plating, usually by special request. If your part needs more attention to detail (nooks and crannies prepped perfect, or ‘especially’ flat surfaces) than the guys at the plating shop can give it, we would then do the pre-polish. This can be a little bit more cost on average, but it will be ‘super’ show quality. See similar questions...

What causes peeling?

SOS Painting
Peeling is the final result when a paint film loses its adhesion to the substrate. Peeling may occur between coats of paint (intercoat failure), or all the paint coats may peel from the underlying substrate (total film failure). See similar questions...

What do I do about peeling and how do I avoid it?

SOS Painting
Slick, glossy or non-porous surfaces - Prepare the surface to give it more 'tooth' (a rougher surface profile), so the paint will adhere better. This can be done by sanding, using a surface conditioner like Paso, or using a primer designed for slick surfaces. Dirty, greasy or grimy surfaces - Clean the surface with a suitable cleaner (like a TSP solution). Be sure to thoroughly rinse afterwards, and let the surface dry before painting. Can we chrome plate aluminum wheels?

Frequently Asked Questions - Alloy Polishing Co.
No, in fact, we would recommend against plating aluminum wheels. At any time, a rock pit, scrape or deicing/harsh chemicals can break the seal between the plating and the alloy, allowing corrosion to start, resulting In bubbling under the chrome surface, then ultimately peeling. Solution, those wheels can be polished to as good or better of a finish than chrome, and with a little bit of maintenance, they can be kept that way. See similar questions...

What are chrome wheelskins?

Hubcaps Plus Frequently Asked Questions
Chrome Wheelskins will give even the most basic style steel wheels an impressive and expensive "hi-end" look and are an inexpensive alternative to those chromed alloy wheels that cost 20 times as much. Wheelskins are made to fit like a "skin" right over your wheel and take only minutes to install. A series of interlocking metal clips securely fasten each "skin" in place making them easy to maintain and car wash safe. See similar questions...

How do I reduce glare off chrome, water, etc.?

Digital Photography FAQ
Try a polarizing filter, also called a polarizer. If you have an SLR which uses phase detection for autofocus (most do), then you'll need to get a circular polarizer to avoid conflicts with your autofocus mechanism. I haven't tried it myself, but a circular polarizer probably is not necessary with non-SLR digital cameras. See similar questions...

My deck is peeling - why?

Paint remover, paint removal, rust removal, glue remover, de...
There is only one reason why a penetrating stain would peel - something has occurred to prevent it from penetrating properly at the time of application, causing it to dry on the surface. Things that can cause the stain to not penetrate properly are many, but here are a few of the most common causes: Poor ventilation under deck (too low to ground, too close to water, etc.) If the deck is too close to the ground, the wood will absorb moisture from the ground from the underside. My paint is peeling what can I do?

Norm Potter - F.A.Q.
Unfortunately aside from stripping, priming and repainting there is very little that can be done once paint starts peeling. Once paint begins to peel it will continue, even if you get a good paint job over top, the old surface underneath will continue to peel causing the new paint to peel off as well. When you pull your new wheelskins out of the box you will see that they have a series of clips along the outside rim. These clips are what secure the wheelskin to the rim. Can you chrome my parts?

Custom Powder Coating
No. We found a company that does a very nice job re-chroming bumpers and restoring trim for old cars. Send us a Free Quote describing what you need and we will put you in contact with them. We can powder coat but we can't sandblast the metal. The reason we can't sandblast the metal is because it will warp. In general, you only want to sandblast heavy gauge metal such as wheels, frames, suspension parts, drive shafts, etc. See similar questions...

No, this isn't the first time that satellites have been used to monitor icebergs. I do not know how close to the actual break of an iceberg satellite images have been able to show in the past.
