The usual procedure for fitting a crown involves shaping the tooth under local anaesthetic and then taking an impression using a rubber-like material. The impression is then sent to the laboratory along with the details of the shade to be used, where the technician makes the crown.

Preparing and placing a crown will require two visits with Dr. Wooten. During the first, Dr. Wooten will prepare the tooth for the crown placement, find your perfect shade, and fit a temporary crown. After one to three weeks, you will return for the permanent placement of the crown.

Before stenciling the fabric, wash and dry it according to label instructions. This will remove the sizing (chemical coating) in new fabric. Always – No. In instances when a large amount of tooth structure is lost due to decay, then yes the tooth should be protected with an onlay or a crown (generically referred to as a "cap"). If the tooth has an excessively large filling with evidence of fracture lines in the remaining natural tooth structure, and is in a stress bearing area of the mouth, that too is an indication for a crown or onlay.

The largest part of our line consists of single overlay stencils cut on 12 mil (.012", not millimeters) plastic. This is a sturdy plastic that can be used for any craft or painting purpose.
