You need to have the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack or Real Alternative installed. The 'RealMedia DirectShow filter' and 'RealMedia codecs' that come with these two packages are required.

To play DVDs in Windows Media Player (version 9, 10 or 11) you need a MPEG-2 decoder that is capable of decoding DVD video and is also compatible with WMP. The K-Lite Codec Pack contains a compatible decoder. Some examples of compatible decoders are: Cyberlink, DScaler5, InterVideo, MainConcept and nVidia PureVideo. There are two types of MPEG video, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2. The most common one of these two that is used in .mpg/.mpeg files is MPEG-1.

Our videos are for Windows Media Player 9. They will play in earlier versions but without the video codec, only the sound can be heard. We recommend upgrading to Windows Media Player v9 or later.

You can make Windows Media Player the default player for a number of file types (formats). You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group to change the file types that the Player will play by default. The procedure varies depending on which version of the Player you are running. For Windows XP, your AutoPlay settings may affect your Windows Media Player file types settings. You have to make sure to download the movie on your hard drive before watching it - to download, right click on the movie link and choose "save target as" (more information on Question 1 located at the top of the page). Yes. We strongly recommend the use of Windows Media Player (Version 7 or higher) to playback the tracks that have been downloaded. Yes. Make sure you are playing the file on the computer you used to purchase the track. When you purchased the download, a license was delivered to your computer that allows you unlimited play of any track you have purchased on the PC to which the track was originally downloaded. If you copy the file to another computer, you will not be able to play the file.

Depending on your modem speed, the download time may vary. Take note of the file name as you will need to reference the file once download is complete. To view movies that are protected by DRM, currently our downloads, there are some issues for Mac users: You may encounter some technical difficulties while using the standard AOL browser. You need to upgrade your browser to make it compatible with Private.com.

Windows Media Player will only store your audio files as compressed WMA files or MP3 files. So if you were to record AIFF or WAV files to a compact disc and then store them into your Windows Media Player library it will automatically store your file as a compressed WMA file or MP3. If you must use the Windows Media Player please update to the very latest version, the latest version (v. 11) is said to have WAV file ripping capabilities.

Please check to see if your Windows Media Player is updated with the most current version available. You can download the latest version at the Windows Media Player site — we recommend that you run Windows Media Player 9 or higher. The video codec that is required to decode and display the video may not be installed on your computer. For example, if you are trying to play a file that was encoded using the DivX video codec and you do not have that codec installed on your computer, you will likely hear the audio portion of the file, but you won't see the video.
