A fundamental characteristic of autism is lack of initiation. Prompting a response is often necessary, especially in the "how to choose and what to choose" stage of learning. Some prompts may be faded over time, but then again, some students need more prompting than others. Accepting no-response due to no prompting is not considered good RPM teaching technique. All RPM students must have an appropriate mode of response so that they may successfully express what is learned.

RPM uses a "Teach-Ask" paradigm for eliciting responses through intensive verbal, auditory, visual and/or tactile prompts. RPM presumes competence to increase students' interest, confidence and self-esteem. Prompting competes with each student's self-stimulatory behavior, and is designed to help students initiate a response.

What it doesn't mean is that the unit will speak to you. It does not. It will beep as you approach a turn if you're using DirectRoute. That's all. No spoken directions are given. Base maps come with the units and vary in size by model. Base maps are also used when the unit is zoomed out sufficiently. This can be disorienting - especialy on the models with 2MB basemaps - as a large number of roads will disappear when zoomed out.

The update is executed automatically if a newer version of PC Agent started on the computer. Start the new version, click on Configure and wait until the update was executed. It is possible that the computer must be restarted after the update. The function Check for new version in Info under Configure, checks if the version of PC Agent, used at the moment, is up-to-date. A PC is similar in some ways to a Woods Boss, and in fact is often mistaken for one. PCs are out in the field during the session, supervising staff and crews. They lead the staff training for their program. During the session, they work with a different crew each day and oversee weekend activities. They also provide staff support and act as a parent-staff liaison. The PC position, however, is a year-round job.

Iylos has 5-11 or so dialogues with the PC initiated by himself, depending on how much content you choose to install. He also has quite a few player-initiated dialogues.

WARNING: It is very important that you complete the steps below in the correct order. If you have a blank PC file, for example, and you send entries to the organizer first, you will erase the entries on the organizer since the PC file will be copied over the organizer file. If a conflict occurs between .PSD entries and corresponding organizer entries, you can resolve the conflict by selecting an option in the dialog box that appears.
