This is very important! Rub the inside, all over with oil, and put in the oven at a low temperature, say 250F, for 8 hours. You may want to do this for a couple of days, and your skillet will be ready to use! Y'all can find these ingredients in gourmet food shops, but remember, raspberry chocolate creams are seasonal, and can't be found year-round.

The outside of your cast iron bath is black and rough to begin with, but can have a smart and elegant appearance with a bit of preparation... sand the outside to make it smooth and then use either an oil-based primer followed by the emulsion colour of your choice, or an oil-based paint on its own. Provided that the first coat is oil-based, your bath should not show signs of aging (rusty colouration) through the paint and will have a durable surface to which paint can safely adhere.

Cast iron pans fresh from the factory usually are treated with a coating to prevent them from rusting before they sell. This coating is not good to eat and it may contain plastic or wax, so it's a good idea to go over your pan with steel wool before seasoning the pan or using it for the first time. After scouring it with steel wool, wash your skillet or pan in hot soapy water and then place over heat until dry.

Although our iron-on labels are designed NOT to be removed, if you have a need to remove them, then we suggest you try the following. Cover the label with a THIN, DRY pressing cloth or handkerchief, and using the hottest heat setting that your garment will withstand, apply heat for 10-15 seconds. Immediately, before the label cools, try to lift the edge of the label with your fingernail. Continue heating and peeling the label from your garment. Be careful not to burn yourself or the garment.

ALWAYS do a test on your fabric first! After time, the hem tape is not removable. The tape can be removed, (with re-heating) but the glue stays! It works best on fabrics with some cotton. DO NOT use it on anything sheer or silk or any other fine fabrics.

New cast iron, cast aluminum (Al), and steel cookware are prepared for a life of cooking use by filling the pores of the cooking surface with carbonized oil to 1) prevent pitting and rust, and 2) to create a semi nonstick quality. Heating oil or lard to a very high temperature, if not smoking point, then wipe up, is all that is normally required to effectively season cast iron, cast aluminum, and steel cookware.

Care of cast iron cookware after cooking and cleaning simply requires you to wipe the cookware with some oil before storing to prevent rusting. If the cookware is to be stored for a lengthy period of time, spread a heavy amount of oil over the cookware and store in an air-tight plastic bag. Note that all steel cookware, other than stainless steel cookware, should be prepared for storage with oil as well. Aluminum cookware does not rust and does not require oil application for storage.
