The secret to plasma TV technology is found in between the two thin panels of mounted glass that make up the screen. These panels are made up of pixels, which are small pockets of compressed gas. Each pixel of a plasma display has phosphors. In a plasma display, when a pixel remains at maximum brightness for several minutes without interruption, it gets hot and a thin surface layer forms over the phosphor. This thin surface layer resists the penetration of the UV light that excites the phosphors during operation so the pixel shines less brightly.

Use the slider to choose 1360 by 768 pixels as the resolution. Make sure that the Colors text box has True Color (32 bit) chosen. If this resolution is not present, log out and follow the instructions regarding At the Log In Screen Prompt.

Some Plasmavision screens come with a built in tuner, these are denoted by a T as the middle of the three letter block in the model number. Other models will display a TV picture from a tuning device such as a Satellite, Cable or Freeview Set-top Box or an analogue TV tuner. To view the picture you simply need to connect the two devices together using the correct cable.

With normal household or business use, Plasmavision display images will still look great in 10 or 20 years time. Since the picture is made with phosphor, engineers can accurately predict the geometric decline of the phosphor’s potential brightness. Note that while the brightness declines slowly, the phosphors never “burn out.” Also, note how the rate slows over time. The rate of decline points to a specification called “Life to Half Brightness” or LTHB.

Yes! The resolution of most high-definition plasma displays matches the resolution of XGA computer sources. Higher resolutions like SXGA and UXGA show quite well when converted to our hi-res panels.

A basic plasma screen consists of two thin sheets of glass containing tiny, gas-filled cells. Electronic current stimulates the cells to produce light and color, creating a bright, steady, vivid picture.

There are only a handful of plasma TVs which include built in speakers, most manufacturers do however offer speakers as additional options which can be attached to the side of the plasma TV. You also have the option to connect the audio to a home theater system and avoiding the need for speakers attached to the plasma TV.

Locate the Universal Mounting Bracket (UMB) in your LCR box. These are pieces of heavy gauge steel, which are intended to mount between the back of the television set and the television wall mount (Articulating Arm, Tilt or Static Mounts, etc.). Alternatively, when the television is not to be wall mounted the UMB may be attached directly to the back of the television using the wall bracket mounting points. Using the supplied screws and washers, attach the two Brackets to the rear of the display.

The monitor must be a VGA, have a HD15 plug and support the resolution and update frequency of the video settings on the target servers. Ensure that the LCD monitor functions when it is directly connected with all PCs in the standalone mode.

Again...there is no set answer and some people may love watching the display at three or four feet back. Oh the brightness...the gases...the sunburn! For obvious reasons, the smaller the plasma display, the closer you can sit to it. Even though plasma TVs typically have a 160 degree viewing angle, tilt wall mounts may be purchased if the mantel is high. A tilt wall mount application will allow the user to tilt the unit from up to 15 to 25% vertically. With this mounting installation the user will have the choice between a flat or tilted affect while adding only 1.75 inches depth to the plasma TV. A flat wall mount can add as little as 1.25 inches to the depth. So, the difference is only half an inch.
