Clearwater is a term used to refer to rain water or irrigation water that flows into our sanitary sewer system. The flow burdens our sewer treatment facilities and should be handled by storm drains, retention ponds, and natural runoff.

Chlorine total is the total amount added to the water for treatment. Chlorine free is the amount of chlorine available in the water for treatment. Chlorine total should always be equal to or greater than chlorine free.

Total chlorine is just as it sounds, the total amount of chlorine in the water. However when chlorine binds up with contaminants it forms a compound called "chloramines" that are no longer effective sanitizers and need to be removed through shocking. The chlorine that is still "good" to keep working is the free chlorine. If directions call for maintaining a 1ppm chlorine level, always make sure that matches your free chlorine reading.

A normal dry cleaner cleans everyday clothing. We only clean bridal, christening, communion and social gowns. We employ textiles conservators. National Gown Cleaners uses solvents and wet-cleaning methods developed for cleaning fragile textiles and gowns with beads, sequins and glued-on ornamentation, which cannot be safely cleaned in perchloroethylene (a common solvent used by dry cleaners).

The ShortRung racks have rungs which are spaced 1-3/4" apart all the length of the rack. Our normal racks have rung spacing graded from top to bottom, 2", 2-1/2", 2-2/3", 3". If your earring collection tends to be long, dangling styles, the earrings may tend to hang over the rung below with the ShortRung rack.

In addition, the drop-off center at 1701 N. Hercules Avenue has containers for all of these materials, and also for corrugated (carton) cardboard. Materials set out at the curb in the residential program can be commingled, but it is helpful if paper is set at one end of the bin, with the other materials alongside. Residents may also place paper in a brown grocery bag or other paper bag placed next to the yellow bin.

We collect ONLY those materials for which we have secure markets. It is expensive and time-consuming to separate non-recyclable materials (contaminants) from marketable commodities. Some containers may be marked "Recyclable", but the markets for these items may be too distant to make collecting them cost-effective. In other cases, the available volume of some containers is too small to justify a collection program.

Clearwater city limits include a wide array of soil and site conditions that should be considered before planting any tree, but the best suited trees for most soil conditions is the "Live Oak" (quercus virginiana). The Live Oak is tolerant of many pests and adverse conditions such as salt spray and drought.
