Can I burn pressure treated (PT) wood in my campfire?

FAQ
In a word, NO. PT wood is used for it's resistance to insects and decay, but it gets these properties through the use of modern science. It contains arsenic as well as insecticides, fungicides and solvents. When burned these are released into the air in the smoke. It is not fit for man nor beast!

Why should wood be pressure-treated?

FAQ on Treated Lumber
Wood is a plentiful and economic building material that comes from a renewable resource. However, untreated wood is subject to attack by insects, micro-organisms, and decay by fungi. To ensure structural soundness and long service life, wood must be protected from its natural predators. This is especially important in hot and humid climates or wherever wood comes into contact with ground or water, since wood is subject to decay and attack. See similar questions...

Is Treated Pine wood treated completely to the center?

The Fence Doctor Answers Your Questions - Dallas Texas
Most of the treated wood is only treated to a point into the wood and not all of the way thru. This of course varies with the amount of treatment applied and can vary from 1/2" on up. It is possible for a .60 2x4 to be treated all of the way to the center while a 6x6 post may not be. When the wood is cut this will be noticed as a lighter color and in order to make the wood last the longest the ends of the wood need to have a treatment brushed on. See similar questions...

What is high blood pressure and how is it treated?

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) - Texas Heart Institute Hea...
Your heart pumps blood through a network of arteries, veins, and capillaries. The moving blood pushes against the arterial walls, and this force is measured as blood pressure. High blood pressure results from the tightening of very small arteries (arterioles) that regulate the blood flow through your body. As these arterioles tighten (or constrict), your heart has to work harder to pump blood through the smaller space, and the pressure inside the vessels grows. See similar questions...

A The main difference between cedar & spruce is longevity. Northern white cedar should last on Long Island about 10-15 years. Spruce should last about 7 years. Where or how it is installed can add or take away the life of your wood fence. A wood fence installed 2" off the ground will last longer then if it were sitting on the ground. Installation near trees, brush, sprinklers, ect. Can lessen the life of a wood fence. See similar questions...

We use clear western red cedar on both gazebos, but we use different types of material. For instance, the Lake Wood uses 2"x6" wall construction whereas the Cedar Cove uses a 4"x4" post. There is a lot more material cost that goes into the design of a Lake Wood Gazebo compared to the design of a Cedar Cove Gazebo. The interior roof of the Cedar Cove gazebo is slightly knotty, while the Lake Wood roof interior is clear. See similar questions...

I want a shiny finish. Can I put multiple coats of UV Plus for Pressure Treated Wood on the wood?

Messmer's Inc. UV Plus for Pressure Treated Wood - Premium w...
No. The only way to get a shiny surface on the wood is by using a multiple coat, film forming finish. We don't recommend clear film forming finishes on decks because they are slippery when wet, they will eventually peel, and they are difficult to maintain and recoat. When properly applied, a penetrating finish like UV Plus for Pressure Treated Wood will not be shiny, it will have a natural, matte look. For a glossy or satin appearance on vertical surfaces, we recommend our Timberflex products. See similar questions...
