Color enhancements are often added to Infrared Satellite images to more clearly distinguish temperatures of various features. While the colors, and intervals of the enhancements may vary, the temperature values of each color may be determined from the registration bar included with the images.

Click on the Options tab and check the "Enable infrared communication" checkbox; click on the OK button. Double click on the small red IR icon (located in the lower right hand corner next to the clock), and click on the Options tab.

Windows contains an incomplete version of IRComm. You may need a driver from the sourceforge project IrCOMM2k [SF project page] which has a IRComm driver for Windows 2000 and XP.

Most consumer digital camera CCD's allow infrared or near infrared light(NIR) to pass through the lens because the hot mirror (a filter for removing Infrared Light)is not of high grade quality,so equipped with a in-expensive filter such as the Hoya R72 or the Wratten 89b you can take dramatic shots using non-visible light from the sun or other light sources. A quick and easy test to find out if your camera is even remotely capable of infrared photography is the "Remote test".

Cast iron sleepers ('CST-9') are widely used. They are not very suitable for high-speed traffic and so are not usually seen on the mainline BG sections. The earlier 'pot sleepers' were especially prone to problems; newer cast iron sleepers (with ends that have two pockets) are much more laterally stable. Steel trough sleepers ('ST') are very common, especially for many high-traffic BG routes.

A little, in much the same way as modern camcorders. The CCD is sensitive to infrared, but it has a filter in place that does a pretty good job of masking it. While the camera will show bright direct infrared sources (like LEDs) as bright white, IR lighting doesn't work very well as scene illumination.

You should always protect yourself and your employees from unwanted fumes or dust when removing paint. It is more important to use a respirator in an indoor application than an outdoor application. All the normal IR functions (keyboard emulation, sending a file to the host, the Get Utility) should work as usual. What will not work is trying to download the Applet or Topic Dictionaries through the IR mode. This needs to be done with a standard cable connection (USB or serial cable).

R uses several forms of signalling. In IR manuals reference is made usually only to 4 main types of systems, Lower Quadrant semaphore, Modified Lower Quadrant semaphore, Multiple Aspect Upper Quadrant semaphore, and multiple-aspect colour-light signalling. But in practice there are some variations in the kinds of colour-light signalling seen, so for ease of analysis, the following classification is used here. (Abbreviations in parentheses given for ease of reference in the text that follows.

In IR's lower quadrant system the semaphore arm can only be in two positions. The horizontal on position shows the most restrictive indication (requiring the train to stop or slow down or proceed with caution depending on the kind of signal), and a lowered position where the semaphore arm is at about 60 degrees or more from the horizontal shows the clear or proceed indication allowing a train to go past the signal.

IR passenger stock is mostly built with side buffers and screw couplers that have to be manually connected. The side buffers have single helical spring elements. Most zones now have many sections that use AFTC, or Audio-Frequency Track Circuit, that sends modulated electrical signals at a particular frequency (a few kHz, often 831.

Much like Bluetooth Infrared (IR) wireless data transmission is also employed in short-range communication among personal digital assistants (PDAs), mobile phones, FAPtops, PCs and printers. Its main differentiation from Bluetooth is that IR is a line sight communications technology, meaning that the two device IR transceivers must have plain line of sight in order to communicate.

In this system, trains are worked between two stations by dispatching them one after the other (all in the same direction) at specific intervals (generally at least 15 minutes). The trains are run at specific speeds (less than 25km/h). This ensures that there should only be one train in every 5km stretch in the section between the stations.
