A "pink & white" or "French" set of nail enhancements is the application of a pink nail product on the nail bed portion of the nail, and the application of white acrylic on the "free edge" or "extension" portion of the nail. If your nails become too long before your next appointment, you can file them using a 100 grit file or larger. NEVER use nail clippers as they may cause your nail enhancements to shatter. Changing the polish is fine, however, you need to use non-acetone polish remover. Cuticle oil applied daily helps prevent your enhancements from becoming brittle. Call your nail technician with any questions or concerns.

The most common shape worn today is referred to as a "square" look. This shape has no rounding of the corners and appears to be a "square" looking nail. This shape is the strongest of all shapes, in that you have more product spanning the width of your nail tip, and less chance of breakage.

Tanning with nail enhancements should not cause discoloration of the nail product, as long as your nail technician/manicurist is using a high quality nail product and applying a "UV" protectant top coat. However, if your nail should become discolored or "yellow" after tanning (some tanning lotions may cause yellowing), simply remove the top coat off of your nails.

Not likely. HIV can be found in minute amounts in saliva but in concentrations so low that it is virtually impossible to transmit infection by deep kissing. However, the possibility exists that cuts or sores in the mouth may provide direct access for HIV to enter the bloodstream during prolonged deep kissing. Therefore, blood to blood contact could occur in the mouth which then could result in HIV transmission.

If you do them yourself, I prefer the foil wrap technique. Materials required are foil, acetone (not polish remover with acetone, but pure acetone purchased at a hardware store) or product remover, cotton balls and an orangewood stick. A fungus is a living organism that thrives in dark, damp environments. Fungal infections are very common in nails on both fingers and toes, but toenails are more likely to be affected by the fungus since it is attracted to dark and damp environments more typical of the foot than the hand.
