There is no minimum score. We look very closely at test scores because we have found that to some degree, successful completion of the doctoral coursework and thesis research is highly predicted by strong scores on these tests. However, this is only one of several criteria that determines acceptance into the doctoral program. We also look closely at transcripts to ensure that applicants' skills meet the demands of the program.

Admission to the Ph.D. progarm is based on an overall evaluation of applicants' scores, grades, recommendation letters, as well as potential for scholarship in our program. A general guideline for admission is a minimum score of 1200 on the combined verbal and quantitive GREs.

There is no minimum GRE score for entering students. In recent years, Graduate Record Examination scores on the Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical sections have averaged 61%, 93%, and 84%, respectively.

In general, we look for at least a B undergraduate average, but the overall record is of primary importance. Individual programs may be interested in how an applicant did in specific courses, whether the undergraduate background course work was adequate for the program, and whether the applicant showed a pattern of improvement during undergraduate study. While we do require GRE and TOEFL scores for admissions consideration, we do not establish a minimum profile in terms of GRE, TOEFL, or GPA. Your application is examined as a whole.

The GRE is required ONLY if an applicant’s cumulative undergraduate GPA is less than 3.0. The required score on the GRE is 1000 or better (verbal and quantitative sections combined). There is no "minimum" score. GRE scores from all applicants are assembled in rank order; however the GRE score is only one component of the application and other factors, in particular undergraduate performance, weigh heavily in the decision process.

We do not have minimums required for application. But of course the higher your score, the better your chances of admission. Average GPA of admitted applicants is 3.8 (4 point scale).

Here at the University of Southern California we do a comprehensive review of all applications. We do not use a formula or have minimum test score and GPA requirements for admission to USC. In general, successful applicants have demonstrated outstanding quantitative ability and proven academic success in their intended field of study. Additionally, because our medium of instruction is English, students are expected to be able to understand and be understood in English.

There is not a minimum GPA requirement. Our average for the class of 2008 was 3.4. Students who are admitted with a GPA below a 3.0 are admitted on a probationary status and must maintain a 3.0 or higher in the fall semester in order to continue with the program.

No. Many factors are considered in the admissions process. However, you will want to note our average and range of scores in our most recent class profile. We will see all of your scores but will take your higher score if you take the test twice. If you take the GMAT more than twice, we consider all scores, but don’t average them.

There are no minimum cut-off scores but admitted students are likely to have scores similar to other competitive programs in Rackham.

What we are most interested in is the applicant's research potential. These scores are just one of many criteria we consider. There are no minimum scores. We much prefer students who have taken challenging advanced courses to those with top scores on rudimentary courses. There are many ways for applicants to demonstrate their research potential.
