Will I get low latency with Cakewalk's Sonar?

FAQ
The kX driver is a kernel-streaming WDM driver, and a latency as low as 10 ms can be expected under Sonar (depending on your hardware/software setup). Currently, DirectSound2D and DirectSound3D are fully supported. DirectSound3D support is under constant development, however it can cause issues with some games. Any offers to help with implementing support for DirectSound3D would be gladly accepted (skilled programmers only please!).

How low can latency be?

RabbitMQ - Frequently Asked Questions
We have seen latencies averaging less than a millisecond; for heavy, steady-state loads, latency hovers around the 4-millisecond mark (including two network hops). See similar questions...

Can I achieve lower latency by building a low-latency kernel?

Ultra-Videoconferencing FAQ
Our experience has been that the low-latency kernel provides no discernable improvement with respect to reducing audio and video latency and suffers from a decrease in stability. We would be interested to hear of more recent user experience with respect to this factor. See similar questions...

How is the latency in Trilogy?

Spectrasonics - Trilogy FAQs
It's completely dependent on your sound card. Most current quality sound cards have drivers that are very fast for real-time playing (as low as 1.5 ms). See similar questions...

What is latency?

Free Bingo Game Support Technical Questions
Internet delays (sometimes called "latency" or "lag") may increase the time a game takes to load, interrupt the loading process of a game, or cause FreeBingo.co.uk to lose its connection to your computer. You should take steps to reduce internet connection delays as outlined below. See similar questions...

What's the latency of the system?

Aviom Frequently Asked Questions
The exact latency depends on the system and whether you're using analog or digital input and output modules. You can get detailed latency specs on the data sheets for individual products. It's less than a millisecond from analog in to analog out (about 800 microseconds), even with many devices daisy-chained. See similar questions...

What kind of latency can I expect to see?

FAQ
The minimum expected ASIO latency is expected to be 5.33 ms (and possibly as low as 2.66 ms, depending on your hardware/software setup). See similar questions...

What is CL or CAS Latency?

All of Memory FAQ
CL stands for CAS Latency. It is a programmable register in the SDRAM that sets the number of clock cycles between the issuance of the READ command and when the data comes out. Smaller number for CL indicates faster SDRAM within the same frequency. The first number of the 2-2-2 designation refers to CAS latency, so in short you are asking the advantage of a CAS latency of 2 over one of 3. See similar questions...

What settings should I use in Sonar?

Echo Digital Audio Corporation
SONAR supports ASIO and WDM/KS for low-latency access to audio hardware. The ASIO mode performs well and is straightforward to set up, requiring no special configuration. If you want to adjust the buffer size when Sonar is running, you do this in Options/Audio/General/ASIO Panel. If you prefer, you can also use SONAR in WDM/KS mode. Here are the required settings for using SONAR with our driver in WDM/KS mode: On the “Driver Profiles” tab, uncheck “Access Driver In Mono”. See similar questions...

Can I fire two or more sonar's at the same time?

Ultrasonic Rangers SRF04
No! If two or more sonar's are fired together then they could pick up each other "ping" resulting in a false readings. Fire them sequentially 65mS apart Yes! We do this all the time on our test robot, firing 8 SRF08's at the same time. They are facing outwards and fitted around a 15inch diameter circle. The gain is set to minimum and they are fired using the I2C general call at address 0, and read individually at their set addresses. See similar questions...

What does latency mean ?

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Latency means the delay between a requested command, (like cue, play, bend) and the moment when the soundcard reacts on it. These latencies are related to the soundcard drivers. See similar questions...

What is transmission latency?

Directway satellite broadband frequently asked questions, Hi...
Latency refers to the time it takes for signals to travel to and from the satellite. This typically creates a sub-second lag. For this reason, DIRECWAY may not be ideal for playing some "twitch-games" and time sensitive "online" trading. See similar questions...

Can I test the latency ?

High Speed Satellite Internet Access - Frequently Asked Ques...
You can test the latency using the "ping" command. Go to Start, then Run, then in the box that comes up type in command and press Enter. This will open a black DOS window that you can type in. Type ping 64.0.97.2 and press Enter. Make sure you are online when you try this. You will see your computer communicating with our Gateway and telling you how long the return trip took to get back to your computer. At the end you will see a summary of the results. How can I reduce this latency?

HTDM Q & A
The Pro Tools v5.1.1 for Mac installer puts a "standard" 512 sample buffer version of DirectConnect and Digidesign StreamManager into the Plug-Ins and Extensions folder, respectively. You will find a low-latency 128 sample buffer version of those components inside the "Beta/Bug Fix Software" folder on your Pro Tools v5.1.1 Mac CD ROM or downloaded from the DirectConnect downloads section of the Digidesign Web Site at www.digidesign. What are latency and jitter?

Voice Over IP Frequently Asked Questions
According to www.webopedia.com, latency is defined as, "In networking, the amount of time it takes a packet to travel from source to destination. Together, latency and bandwidth define the speed and capacity of a network." Suppose you have a garden hose delivering water from the water spigot to your petunias. Latency is essentially the delay from when the water goes in one end of a hose and to when it comes out the other end. See similar questions...
