Yes, with Procion MX dyes, but the polyester part of the fabric will not take dye and you will get a much lighter, "heathered" effect.

Calculate the respective weights of nylon and cotton in the garment (you need to know the proportions of cotton and nylon). Dye the garment according to the nylon and cotton dyeing methods. First dye the nylon by following this method: Allow to dry. The nylon fibres have now been dyed. Now dye the cotton fibres by following the standard instructions for dyeing.

We are often asked this question from clients in the home furnishing industry as they often require to sublimate onto furniture with fabric that is part polyester and cotton. Generally speaking, the higher the percentage of polyester in the fabric the better the sublimation results. At minimum we recommend a blend of 60% polyester - or in other words the majority of the fabric should include polyester.

The fabric must be able to withstand 60 degree Celsius water and must not be damaged by creasing. Cold dyes exist but they're a pain in the neck to use and the colour doesn't stand up to repeated washing. Buy some Dylon Hand Dye (Woolworths sell it along with their sewing stuff) and a bag of cooking salt. Then get hold of an old bucket or bowl, a pair of rubber gloves and a clean wooden stick (the bowl, gloves and stick will be stained afterwards).

Polyester rope is bright white where as cotton rope is more of a beige color. Polyester rope will last longer outdoors then cotton rope. Some people say that cotton rope is more comfortable then polyester. This is largely a matter of opinion.

Cotton rope hammocks are made from natural fibers and their soft cotton like feel results in a very comfortable hammock bed. These hammocks are typically beige in color (the natural color of cotton). Cotton rope hammocks are perfect for people who can take their hammock out of the elements on a normal basis to store. Hammocks made from polyester rope are designed to be weather resistant. As a result, these hammocks can have a very long lifespan.

The industry traditional standard is to use 100% cotton lining, but you can use any lining that is to your liking or to the preference of your customer.

It is possible, but we don't recommend it. Polyester is more flexible, stronger, and has a proven history of success with our products. Also, be aware that some fiberglass tape and fabric is asphalt impregnated and will not work well with water-borne products.

Food coloring will dye the water but not the cotton. Food coloring dye does not bond to the cotton. Think of the fiber as fabric and use any fabric dye. The color in soft construction paper transfers its dye to the pulp as well. For the construction paper dye, tear a 2" or 3" square piece and place in the blender with the cotton sheet and it will color the pulp.

Maybe it is not cotton? Cotton is sometimes claimed but the material is a synthetic. If imported, it is more likely than with local fabric. Check out the origin of the material or garment. If indeed you suspect it is not cotton, there are burn tests you can do. If your problem is blotchiness or the dye not taking only in part, the garment may contain sizing - a waxy substance common in new fabrics. Hot washing with strong detergent will remove sizing although one wash may not be enough.
