Like most states, Florida does not register guns, or license owners. If you intend to carry a gun for protection off your property, you should obtain a Florida Concealed Weapons License. The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office has the paperwork at our offices in Crestview, Shalimar, Destin, and Santa Rosa Mall. In order to obtain a license, you must be a US citizen (not necessarily a resident of Florida), at least 21 years of age, and be able to document some firearms training.

The first step is the Basic Personal Protection Course, which takes eight hours. This is normally done in two four-hour sessions on two days. Once you complete this course, you get a certificate from us, which you take to the Department of Safety, at a Driver's License Examining Station. They will fingerprint and photograph you, do a background investigation, and issue you a Handgun Carry Permit, in 60 to 90 days.

Yes, but it must be unloaded with no ammunition in the chamber or magazine. Legal muzzle-loading firearms are the only firearms that hunters are permitted to carry while in this wildlife management area. Loaded modern firearms are not permitted.

Yes, permits are required in all wilderness areas, National Parks, and other restricted areas along the trail. You can obtain a permit from the agency on which your PCT trip originates. For example, if you plan to travel from Echo Lake to Castle Crags State Park, you would need to contact the Eldorado National Forest since your trip would begin in that forest. They would issue a permit good for your entire trip. The PCTA can issue a wilderness permit for trips of 500 miles or more along the PCT.

You may register it at the Ferndale Police Department Records Bureau. Bring in picture identification on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.. There is no charge for this service, however if a notarized signature is required there will be a $10.00 fee.

According to RSMo 571.030, any individual, with or without a valid concealed carry endorsement, over the age of twenty-one may transport a concealable firearm that is otherwise lawfully possessed in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle. Additionally, "any person who has been issued a concealed carry endorsement and such endorsement or driver's license has not been suspended, revoked, canceled, or denied may carry concealed firearms on or about his or her person or within a vehicle.

For the morning classroom portion, you should bring pen and paper and an open mind. During the firing range portion of the class, you will need a reliable handgun, a sturdy belt and a holster to be attached to your belt on your firing-hand side. If you are bringing a semiautomatic pistol, you should have at least one extra magazine, plus a magazine carrier to be attached to your belt on the opposite side from the holster. You must bring good-quality eye and ear protection.
