Garmin software can upload vector maps (i.e. those consisting of drawn lines). However, Garmin have not published the interface protocol for uploading vector maps and so this function is not supported in GPS Utility. The best you can do with GPS Utility is to create tracks which can be used as 'pseudo maps'. You can do this by digitising tracks using scanned maps - see the Help topics 'mapping' and 'digitising'. The maps are a bit crude, but it does work for some purposes.

Garmin's map transfer protocol is secret and proprietary to them. No third party software can use it. Thus, MacGPS Pro cannot transfer Garmin's MapSource maps into Garmin receivers - only MapSource software has that ability. Because Garmin's MapSource is only available in a Windows version, a Mac user must borrow or purchase a used PC to use it. On the other hand, MacGPS Pro allows two-way transfer of Waypoints, Routes, and Track Logs with a Mac OS native application.

It is impossible to upload our maps in a GPS because they are too large being raster maps and are SoftMap proprietary format, unreadable by other software. The manufacturers of the GPS receivers normally restrict the upload to their own map format and the GPS receivers have sometimes limited memory.

Over at Groundspeak, Geocaching.com's message forum, Peter gave a great explanation of the differences between Garmin and Magellan topo maps: quot;As Sputnik indicated, the approaches taken by Magellan and Garmin are different. Garmin uses Digital Raster Graphics (DRG) to basically create an image of the USGS 1:100,000 series maps.

When looking through other programs, I found that some authors say "upload" when transferring towards the Garmin, others say "download" to the same transfer, and vice versa. Is this because some people put their Garmin on top of the PC (upload) and some put it below the PC (download)? No matter what is up and what is down, I refer to the PC program being the active part: writing data to the Garmin, and reading data from it. In most cases you won't need it any more, see next item.

The install program on disk 1 installs everything needed for all the data disks. When you ask AllTopo to display a map which is found on another disk it will prompt you to put the correct disk in your CD reader. Copy the SETUP.EXE from the first data disk to a temporary location on your fixed drive. Run SETUP from the fixed disk. I am printing, All Topo Maps indicates that the printout has been sent, but the printer never starts.

In order to have Freshmap mapping on your GPS, you need a GPS that is able to take a microSD card (GPS with "x" at the end of the name), and you need Freshmap for Garmin GPS which is only available on microSD card.

Yes. All game servers come with maps/mods space. We have set a soft limit of 200MB, however in certain circumstances we may allow use of more space. You the customer is responsible for managing any mods/maps that you upload. If you are having trouble configuring/installing a mod please post in the Forums rather then contacting support directly so that anyone is able to answer your question.

Recently, an IntelliGolf customer sent us instructions on how they got Garmin's Mobile 10 GPS receiver to work with IntelliGolf. Since Garmin has not sent us a Mobile 10 GPS receiver yet, we have not been able to verify these set-up instructions, but we hope that they will help you. I have managed to get the Garmin Mobile 10 GPS to work with IntelliGolf and a PDA with Windows Mobile 6 (T-Mobile Wing in my case).

Once again, the South American Explorer's Club offers paper maps, both of Machu Picchu and of the Inca Trail. When Installing Netscape 7.0 on a Windows 2000 system, the Java Plug-in included in the Netscape installation package is not installed correctly. This causes problems with Java applets on iCGRS Web pages.

The Receiver is the rehabilitator, liquidator or conservator of an insolvent company.
