Conventional paints have a bridging quality that can result in the fissures being covered with a film of dried material. On an acoustical tile, closing the fissures in the tile's surface reduces the tile's ability to absorb sound, thereby causing an increase in noise level within that space. Ceiling Tiles are paintable with an emulsion, acrylic or other water based paint. It is recommend that they be painted with an airless paint sprayer. We do not recommend you paint with Spray Cans of Paint due to the propellants that create the spray. Yes, because of their light weight, you don't need to scrape the popcorn. No prior preparation of the ceiling is necessary. The tiles are made to be installed (glued) to the ceiling. With some modification of the slats the tiles can be dropped and will look just fine. All of the tiles are produced in Europe to their standards. That is why they only come in these dimensions. Latex caps are very inexpensive. They do not last very long. They can pull on hair or be uncomfortable. Silicone caps are more expensive but last longer and may be more comfortable. Both latex and silicone caps will keep the hair relatively dry. They may help keep goggle straps from slipping. Lycra caps are the most comfortable and do not pull hair.
