The time to load is dependent on several factors such as the users internet connection speed, browser, and internet traffic. Most browsers will download the tour within 10 to 20 seconds.

It takes a while to initialize the LimeWire GUI. In general, startup times for Java applications are slower than for native applications. However, Java programs will work much faster after initialization.

The new Webmail may take longer to load than the older version. This is due to the dramatic increase in features and capabilities included in the new version. Although times will vary, a 56Kbps connection should take approximately one minute to load Webmail. If you are using Alfred State College's dial-in system, the maximum connect speed is about 30Kbps - expect Webmail to take approximately two minutes to load.

Depending on the amount of traffic, you may be making good time and traveling smoothly, you may hit construction (especially if you live in NEPA), you may hit a traffic jam, you may be held up due to inclement weather, or you may be stopped talking to someone on your cell phone. The Internet has the same basic principles and problems.

When accessing the internet video for the first time several Active-X controls will be loaded onto your computer to show the video, and PTZ control (if enabled). These controls should install within 1 - 2 minutes (on broadband connection). Once those controls have been installed, when returning to the page it will load within a few seconds.

It typically only takes around one minute or so to load a soundskin. Some skins are more complex, and are larger files, and so can take a little longer. just enough time to go to the toilet :). The speed also depends on your sequencers tempo as it plays the MIDI file. While testing we switch between skins all the time, and have run sequencers at up to 250 bpm, loading skins without problems very quickly, often under a minute.

The Student workstation software normally loads in five minutes or less. The Management software loading takes approximately fifteen to twenty minutes to load. All software load times depend on the speed of the computer components itself.

On some slower systems, there may be a noticeable delay while the program loads. It is initializing a large amount of data. On the other hand, once initialized, it is faster (we think) than any other program. Lightning fast!
