A Backlash deck consists of up to 12 cards that contain no more than 6 Pre-match and no more than 6 Mid-match cards. They are not part of your hand and do not count as part of your Arsenal. The deck is separate.

No. While the card may suggest this, we are ruling that you cannot respond to an effect with two reversals. No! However, if you OVERTURN an Elbow, it will reverse it. Note that Sustained Damage only works once you decide to let a card be successful and do damage to you. You then discard to lower the damage before overturning.

Mid-match cards can be fished out as needed and played according to their card type. For example, Dirty Low Blow is a maneuver - so you can only play it on your turn. You don't draw it: you decide whether you want to play it, then go into the Backlash deck and fish it out to play it. If you need a reversal, and it is an opponent's turn, fish it out a mid-match reversal. You play these cards like normal, but instead of drawing them, you use them as needed.

Yes, because reversing from the Backlash deck is not the same as reversing from the hand, just like playing a card from your Backlash deck is not the same thing as playing a card from your hand.

On the Z axis it isn't so critical unless cutting to a shoulder, and for this I make it a point to always feed toward the headstock to keep things consistent. This lathe doesn't seem to have much slop in Z anyway, so I haven't done much about it yet.

Yes. If for some reason your opponent does not have a Backlash deck, you may still play yours. What you do in a friendly, non-tournament game is up to the players involved. Yes and No! A multi-deck game has an inherent 0.5% - 0.6% disadvantage over a single deck game with the same rules. Much of this difference is due to the effect of removal of cards (i.e., removing one card in single deck has a big effect, whereas its removal in a shoe game is negligible). On the other hand, it is much easier to find good rules and conditions in shoe games.

Standard machine screw jacks, machine screw jacks with anti-backlash and ball screw jacks must be considered separately, as the normal backlash will vary due to different constructions. Machine screw jacks have backlash due not only to normal manufacturing tolerances, but to the fact that there must be some clearances to prevent binding and galling when the screw jack unit is under load (for values refer to Design Guide PJLMPTDG-01 section 1.5.1.8.).

Answer: Yes, there is a very small amount of backlash in the ball screw and nut. If backlash is critical, we can have the ball screw nuts hand fitted to the ball screws to reduce the backlash to almost immeasurable levels.

To reduce backlash in a ball nut, it is possible to load the assembly with larger than nominal ball bearings. This will reduce but not eliminate backlash. I prefer to use a large brush or a mop. You want to get large amounts of Stain Solver liquid on the deck surface. Hand pump sprayers often apply too little solution to the surface. If you must use a sprayer, make sure the product has dissolved completely or you will clog the nozzle! Also, be sure you spray on lots of liquid.

In most cases, yes. Because the calculated load on the deck structure and foundation almost doubles, some additional reinforcement is usually required (framing and/or piers).

Some east coast built Tritons suffer from waterlogged balsa-cored decks. Water enters through leaking deck fittings and eventually rots the balsa core, causing it to delaminate. The first symptoms are leaks at chainplates, stanchion bases, and jib-sheet tracks. Eventually, the core breaks down entirely and feels spongy underfoot. I tried every known type of repair without lasting success until I realized the only permanent cure is to replace the core and upper layer of deck.

That depends on our climate. Decks in the direct sunlight tend to fade and dry out; decks in humid and shady areas grow algae and fungus spores. Both problems require attention yearly, or no later than two seasons apart.

We need a minimum 50 degree temperature to safely let deck preservative products cure and dry properly.

Get a professional opinion and set up a plan to restore your deck to its original condition. It could be minor raised fibers and small splinters that can easily be finish-sanded off, or it might be severe sunlight damage (as in the way that pressure-treated pine gets, with seperation of the grain, causing sharp spear-like spikes). At this stage, replacement of the boards is needed.

For treadmills manufactured after November 2002 use lubricant that is 100 percent silicon. It can be purchased from Horizon Fitness or from a sporting goods or other fitness retailer.
