What is the clanking sound when the engine is running?

HPI Racing - Frequently Asked Questions
If you hear a clanking noise coming from your engine, it might be a problem with the flywheel and not a problem with the engine itself. This is a brand new flywheel (#A884) that comes with any kit that comes with the Nitro Star 15FE engine. If you hear a clanking sound coming from your car or truck, your pilot shaft (#A805) may not be tight enough, causing the flywheel to rock back and forth on the crankshaft. The rocking action can cause the inside of the flywheel to wear out.

My engine is overheating or running hotter than I would like. How can I get it better cooling?

SuperTigre Engines - Product Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ...
Most people make the mistake of thinking more is better when it comes to the air INLET at the front of the cowl. This is a common error and while it seems logical the reverse is actually true. To properly cool your engine you need more OUTLET not more inlet. You want at least 2:1, preferably 3:1 air out to air in otherwise it makes a 'dam' and the air can't come into the cowl because it has no where to go OUT of the cowl. See similar questions...

How do I charge the camper battery when the engine is running?

The Bedford CF van/motorhome Web Site - FAQ
If your battery is just wired in parallel to your engine battery then it gets charged as you drive and nothing further is needed. If your battery is wired as in method 2 above (by far the better method) then you need a split charge relay available from most caravan accesory shops for around 10 quid. There is another strange sound in my engine: is my exhaust pipe broken?

Frequently Asked Questions
More likely the manifold cover, near the oil dipstick, which acts as a heat shield is broken. It will then start to resonate. Tap on the metal to hear if it's the culprit. That are the hydraulic tapets. It takes a while before the oil has reached these. Until then you get a ticking, almost diesel-sound-like noise. Try using your windscreen wiper for a change: odd are the continuous clicking will be gone. Whenever the wiper goes too far back, it will trigger a relay which goes berserk. See similar questions...

Yes, since the aRts sound server KDE uses is running, it is using the sound device. If it is idle for 60 seconds, it will release it automatically (auto-suspend). In previous versions aRts didn't suspend when using full duplex. Upgrade to a newer version or turn off full duplex and it will suspend. Turning it off is a good idea anyway if you only use aRts for playing things. See similar questions...
