The answer is "what do you want to do - use one or two blades?? Depending on your country, 4" and 4-1/2" grinders or 100mm, 115mm or 125mm grinders can be used. But read on! Single blade use only: If you only ever want to use one Lancelot or Squire blade on its own you can use a 4" or 100mm angle grinder. The blade you select must have the 5/8" (16mm) center hole.

The degree of cracking (or "checking" as it is called by carvers) that occurs in a carving really depends on several things. First it depends on the amount of moisture in the log. If the log is freshly cut, it retains a great deal of the original moisture of the tree. It may take years for the wood to dry out. Most logs dry at about 1 inch per year. So a fresh cut log that is 18 inches in diameter may take up to 8 or 9 years to completely dry.

Many people carve rubber erasers. Erik the Viking of VT recommends the Factis white vinyl eraser, available at some art stores (although not at the one near me) or via mail order. The two most popular non-eraser media these days are probably PZ-Cut, and Speedballs "Pink Stuff". One nice thing about the specific carving media as opposed to erasers is that you can get larger blocks of the stuff, if you need more real estate than the eraser allows to create your image.

Yes, most cracks can be repaired. It is a good idea to wait until the log is dry, or finished cracking before repairing the crack. It will open back up again if it is not dry. In the mean time, a little stain placed in the crack may help hide the crack from view until it dries. An example might be using a little dark stain to fill in a crack on a black bears back. This will make the crack practically invisible, while the carving finishes drying out a little more.

NO! Many pet stores use cedar or pine shavings as bedding, but it is not recommended. Cedar in particular has been associated with allergies and respiratory problems in various animals, including humans and ferrets. Pine and other wood chips also produce a fair amount of dust which isn't good to breathe. Furthermore, your ferret would much rather have an old towel or T-shirt to cuddle up in. Neutering ? Yes.

Because of different types of finishes, paints, age of furniture, etc., Fe-Lines, Inc. ALWAYS advises our customers to test a small piece of SP on an inconspicuous place FIRST. Use on open grained woods is not recommended due to possible splintering on removal. Densely grained woods and those with lacquered finishes may work well, but we still recommend a test.

The important thing is the grind, not the grinder. Many home grinders have no grind settings. The fineness of the grind is dependent on the grinding time. As a rule of thumb, grind your beans 75% of the time recommended for hot-brew systems. There are a plethora of home coffee grinders on the market that offer multiple grind settings. Grinders are available at your favorite gourmet coffee, kitchen shop or department store, or online.

No, you cannot. You can use the manufacturer’s locknut to tighten one blade only. Their locknut has a 22mm shoulder which will not allow it to tighten two blades. We designed the Universal Nut with its flat base and hexagon head specifically for the purpose of holding any double blade combination. Using a 13/16"(21mm) spanner, socket or crescent wrench, its much easier than manufacturers two pin spanners. It can also be used to tighten other accessories.

We recommend placing a small amount of Salt of the Earth's Sea Salt coarse crystals on a dish in the sun and allow moisture to evaporate naturally. Or alternatively place moist sea salt crystals on a non-metal ovenproof dish, preheating oven to no more than 50 degrees Celsius. Bake for 10 - 15 minutes. Allow the Sea Salt to cool and place in Ceramic Grinder. Easy to follow instructions are included inside each grinder.
