Major industrial sectors, including electricity produced by combustion, upstream oil and gas, downstream petroleum, base metal smelters, iron and steel, some mining sectors, cement, forest products, and chemicals production contribute about half of Canada's air pollutant (52%) emissions.

Mandated by Congress under the Clean Water Act, the NPDES Storm Program is a comprehensive two-phased national program for addressing the non-agricultural sources of storm water discharges, which adversely affect the quality of our nation's waters. The Program uses the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting mechanism to require the implementation of controls designed to prevent harmful pollutants from being washed by storm water runoff into local water bodies.

Reporting to the Criteria Pollutant Emissions Inventory is based on many things and is determined by a review of the facility's air quality files, including the current air permit and application. According to Section 112(b)(1) of the Clean Air Act, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) must compile a list of hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). These are pollutants that cause or may cause cancer or other serious health effects, such as reproductive effects or birth defects, or adverse environmental and ecological effects.

There are many sources of indoor air pollution in any home and place of occupation.

About 40% directly from Owners and Developers (we list them on our "A" list), 60% from Brokers who have properties they wish us to expose nationally - but who cannot justify the expense or time themselves, (we list these on our "B" list).
