The first step in getting MIDI in and out to function properly is to make sure the cabling to your external keyboard is correct. You need to connect MIDI Out of your keyboard to MIDI In of your interface, and MIDI Out of the interface to MIDI In on the keyboard. If you are using external sound modules, connect them via the MIDI keyboard's Thru jack.

If you have an external MIDI instrument, make sure that your MIDI cables are plugged IN to OUT and OUT to IN. On the PC, go to the Options menu and select Midi Devices and choose the MIDI In and Out of your sound card/MIDI interface on both sides. First make sure you have a device setup in preferences for your keyboard and all your other MIDI Hardware devices. If there are devices already automatically defined as attached to the ports used by your hardware, edit those devices to match what's connected. The software only displays files for conversion that have a supported extension. PDF FLY converts .pdf, .ps, .eps and .prn files while META FLY converts .wmf and .emf files. If the file you wish to convert has a different extension or no extension and you are sure that it is a supported format, then you should rename it to include the correct extension so that it appears in the dialog for selection.
