This issue is still unresolved, but my guess is that it's due to buggy firmware in the xDSL/cable modem or router. Reports on the mailing list seem to indicate that transfers complete without issue if the download rates are low. It seems that some people have come up with some very creative workarounds to deal with this, such as stopping the transfer if it gets too fast and restarting.

With ADSL, you open new possibilities for your Internet use. ADSL (512kbits/s) is up to 8 times faster than ISDN and up to 23 times as fast as an analog line connected at 33.6 kbits/s.

A 14.4 modem is the bare minimum. A 56k connection is recommended to have decent ping times. Cable, DSL, and T1 lines will result in very low pings.

Most wireless modems/routers will lose the internet connection if a cordless phone, operating on the 2.4GHz band, is used nearby due to radio signal interference. To avoid this problem simply change the phone. Any 5.8 GHz or 900 MHz phone will be able to send or receive phone calls without interfering with your internet connection.

It's possible to do so, but definitely not recommended. Firstly, most ISPs may terminate your account if you host a website because of clauses that prevent you from doing so. There are also many technical issues to consider when hosting a site, such as having to constantly provide security and protection from hackers. You would also need to have your computer on 24/7 and you wouldn't have the professional support Web hosts provide in case something goes wrong.

Simply put: the faster the better. The minimum speed Internet connection you would require to attract listeners is a cable modem or DSL. Users of Broadcaster using a 56k modem will be able to test their broadcast with one or two listeners, no more.
