There really is no "standard" size window. How wide you would like your window to look is left up to your discretion. Since most hardware can be mounted on the outside of the frame, the width of the window can be as wide as you deem fit. Give the illusion of a larger, wider window by positioning your decorative curtain rod above the frame and mount the hardware a few inches wider than the width of the window frame.

A standard window is 1-1/8" tall and 4-1/2" wide. Standard window placement is 7/8" from left side of envelope and 1/2" from bottom.
