Both DS and Top Seal are penetrating materials. They are not designed as coatings over paint or other sealers. Previous sealers or paint or adhesives…i.e., any material that might block the penetration of the products must be removed prior to use.

The general rule for DS is that it can be applied as soon as you can walk on the finished concrete without leaving a track. Generally, on concrete outside, the time required after finishing is usually about 12 to 24 hours. For concrete that is poured inside, as in a building or under roof, the time required may be longer than 12- 24 hours. Power troweling provides a nice-looking, smooth finish on concrete floors. It creates a "hard cap" (crust) on the surface. But when overdone, the surface becomes shiny and the crust may be very thick (1/8" instead of 1/32"), which may lead to problems. (Uncured lumps pushed into the surface while still plastic will become stress points that may cause spider web cracking later. There are several advantages to sealing concrete paving stones. Sealing paving stones will help them to resist staining. The answer is no. Sealing concrete doesn't take a scientist. In fact, most of our past client's re-seal their concrete on their own with little assistance from ACDI. The trick is making sure it's not going to rain, it's not under 50 degrees, the slab is clean and dry, and the temperature isn't hot outside (over 80 degrees). Yes! Milk Paint will water-spot white spots if it has not been sealed and something gets spilled on it. It will also spot if it is wiped with water or washed. Decorative pieces, walls etc., do not need to be sealed, but functional pieces should be. Sometimes. When I do I rely on Testors Dull Cote. I should probably use it more often as it does a great job protecting the figures paint jobs and such... trouble is the stuff is rather toxic. So I fully recommend using Testor's Dull Cote - just be certain to spray it with adequate ventilation - or better yet if you can spray your customs outdoors, and allow the Dull Cote to dry before bringing your work back inside.
