Jessica (aka. digitalfrost) submitted a very good explanation about the entire minor league hockey system, including the junior leagues, on the grrrowlfan board. With her kindest permission, she has allowed us to re-print it here: The ECHL is generally accepted as the second tier, but whether or not we share our second tier status with the WCHL and/or the UHL has been the subject of long (and sometimes, shall we say, unpleasant) debates. Below us definitely is the CHL (Central Hockey League).

PTA believes the core value of a parent is more important than only serving as a fundraiser. Fundraising is a means to carry out the goals and work of PTA. Fundraising events provide a valuable service and involve more parents in the school. PTA Fundraising Essentials is a guide we produce and distribute to every local PTA leader and public school principal across the country.

The organization requesting a donation must be a non-profit, non-religious organization. We request that all inquiries be submitted at least four weeks in advance by a letter, email or fax including the 501 (3)(c) number to Hoyt Fields at hfields@hearstcastle.com or fax number at (805) 927-2110.

The fundraising totals are due 30 days prior to the departure date of your climb. If the minimum pledge amount is not met by the fundraising deadline, BAWT will charge your credit card for the outstanding balance. If you have outstanding matching donations at the time of the fundraising deadline we WILL count them toward the total and credit card will NOT be charged for that balance. Question #12 describes our cancellation policy.

A - Skates are not always completely black as they are now being made in a few other colors. Some skates are a combination of black and other colors. When skates were mainly leather made they were actually a dark brown not black.

A - Your skate blades are very sharp and therefore very dangerous. You can cut yourself very badly with them. Be extremely careful in the handling of your skates both on and off the ice. Former NHL great Borje Salming once needed almost 300 stitches to his face after being stepped on by a skate and former goalie Clint Malarchuk had his jugular vein cut by a skate. There have also been instances of players' fingers being cut off when being skated over.

The Major-Minor option requires a BSc student to take at least one Science Major and one Minor. You may do a second or third Minor if your timetable permits you to do so. The second Minor or third Minor will also be recorded on transcripts if you have successfully completed the requirements.

A minor interest is assigned to one period daily and is an opportunity for you to enjoy and experience another art form or recreation. We ask that each student choose 3 minor interests, but reserve the right to assign this activity. Please choose carefully for we may have to assign your third choice depending on availability.

It depends on the day’s weather conditions. The captain will make the call and let you know prior to making your reservation.

A - Women's hockey skates are made specifically for the shape of women's feet, which are a little different than men's. They also come in women's sizes only and can be made to fit a very narrow foot. Goalie skates have a lower boot and wider blades. They are stronger and have more padding to stop the puck. They also come with an outer boot protector.

While we definitely encourage you to set a personal fundraising goal and try and meet or exceed it, participants are not required to raise a minimum amount, and donations are made for your participation rather than per mile. Donations obtained in amounts of $10, $25, $50, $100, or more from friends, family members, coworkers, and neighbors enable you to be recognized as a Fundraising Club member. Money may be turned in at registration or donated online.
