Blueprint for America is a series of community service efforts funded by the AIA, in which AIA members donated their time and expertise to collaborate with community leaders and local citizens to address issues such as homelessness, sustainable communities, and downtown revitalization. Clicking on the Blueprint for America layer enables users to explore how AIA members and local citizens are working together to resolve real issues in their communities to create a vision for their future.

There were no trackpoint time stamps. This can happen when an imported GPX file doesn't contain time values for each trackpoint. It can also happen if you have saved tracklogs in the GPS unit. Trackpoint time stamps are lost when you save the active tracklog in a Garmin GPS unit.

Note that Terrabrowser was created before Google Earth existed and might not have been written otherwise. Bearing that in mind Terrabrowser offers... Lightweight browsing - Terrabrowser won't hog your CPU like Google Earth. Of course, there aren't any 3D effects either...

Now, any time you see a "Google Earth" button in Virtual Globetrotting, you can click on it to get an export for Google Earth:

I don't have any on webfoot.com, but my friends over at Juice Analytics have overlays for some census data as well as general Google Earth resources.

Well, we can't, for two reasons, but you might be able to. Google Earth requires both broadband Internet and a PC. We use Macs and we don't have anywhere near broadband capability. Frappr works best for us. But if you want to see where we are, you can get the zip code from our Frappr map or www.usps.com, and then use Google Earth to explore the area.

First, you must have a copy of Google Earth saved to your computer. To download Google Earth, go to http://earth.google.com. Follow the download instructions and open the Google Earth software. The AIA layers are located under Featured Layers, which you will find in the left navigation pane entitled "Layers." Click Featured Layers and the AIA layer will automatically appear.

NOTE: PC-Engine, PC-Engine Google Interface, PC-Engine for Google Earth all require that your users are using Internet Explorer 5.0 or above or Opera 8.5 or above as their default browser. The iSeries PC-Engine, PC-Engine Spool to PDF, PC-Engine Google Interface, PC-Engine for Google Earth, PC-Engine UPS Package Tracker a server components run on your iSeries while the client component runs on the target PC(s).

I actually used a script that I wrote myself to digitise my route. It displays a Google map, and when I click on the map, it displays the longitude and latitude of the resulting point in a format I can copy out and paste into a text file. I then apply a few regular expressions to the file, and out pops a Google Maps XML file, as well as a Google Earth KML file. This system proved to be in tune with my needs – it pays to be a programmer sometimes!

Google Earth is a program you download and install on your computer. There are versions for Windows and Mac OS X computers available. Google Earth allows you to view satellite photos, maps, geographic terrain and 3D models of buildings from around the world. Plus, Google has partnered with several content providers to give users even more information about popular and interesting places, and AIA is now one of those providers.

On the first few days following the competition deadline, the movies are screened at a grand premiere in a local movie theater. A guaranteed standing-room-only audience of tired, excited filmmakers, crews and friends are in attendance to cheer on the films. The winning films go on to our National Screening and Awards Weekend.

Older or lower performance Graphics cards are sometimes capable of running Google Earth in normal 2D, but will not function in 3D. Google Earth will lock up or hang soon after starting. Unfortunately, there is no solution apart from using a more capable Graphics Card.

To display a threat zone on Google Earth, you must first import the threat zone into ArcGIS using the ALOHA Arc Tool extension, and then export it as a KML file (using an extension available on the ESRI site). ALOHA Arc Tools Download tools that can be used to import an ALOHA threat zone into ArcView 3.x or ArcMap 8.x or 9.x. First you need to download Google Earth program from http://earth.google.com/downloads.html and install it to your computer. After installation select "Add" in the menu bar and click "Network link". Then choose a name for the new link by filling in the "Name" field, and put http://testbed.fmi.fi/kml/htb.kml in the "Location" field. On the left side of the screen you can select various data layers to be shown with the help of check boxes.

It can't read and write the special file formats of those programs, but with the general purpose file format GPX this is possible - for Googel Earth with KML as well.. Why not use the GPX file format in general, to save user data, instead of the special file formats of Gartrip? Then I would not need to convert my data each time I want to access it with another program. This is not recommended because Gartrip, like all other programs, saves additional data in its own format.

You must geotag the article. The simplest way to do this is to use the {{coord}} template. This template can be used anywhere within the article text. For example, if the article for San Francisco, California contained this markup anywhere within the article text: {{coord|37|46|N|122|26|W|display=title}} Although the display parameter is not required in this template, you must use it with the title keyword if you want it to appear in the Geographic Web layer.

For this version of the Google Earth Geographic Web, the Best of Google Earth Community layer placemarks were chosen programmatically using a variety of metrics including popularity, uniqueness, and richness of content.

The Google Earth feature only requires that you load a tracklog. If you load and georeference images, they'll show up too in Google Earth.

In commemoration of its 150th anniversary, the AIA is striving to engage the public in a dialogue about the impact of architecture in our daily lives. By adding AIA Blueprint for America and America's Favorite Architecture layers to Google Earth, we are able to introduce the public to a virtual world of architecture that can put them up close and personal with the buildings and communities that influence the way we live, work and play.
